What do you think of Zeal?
« on: September 02, 2006, 09:56:41 am »
I liked Zeal. The only problem was that 40% of the people there were frigging tossers.  8)
I only wish that there was more in Zeal so that I could spend longer exploring it.

Yeah, I know. I wish it had been developed more. One of my ideas was that Schala could have become friends with Crono and co. before sealing the Gate. I mean, she hardly talks with them.

Yeah, how dull... Have you played the Crimson Echoes demo yet? There's plenty more of the last Zealians in that.

No, I havn't played it yet. I probably will soon.
I recently got Chrono Cross, there is barely any time travel :(
I have been playing around with Temporal Flux.
I think I might add heaps more to the Last Village. Even 2300 A.D. had more people left in it!!!

Last Village, name and all, was sort of romantic to me. It was the only thing left on the only surviving piece of continent at the time. The people there were gifted with the responsibility of humanity's future, and worked among those still wearing the robes of Zeal.

That's a good point,
I would assume that there were more survivors, it's just that the game didn't show it. Like how Truce would have more people in it or how Zenan would probably have more towns it's just that they wern't important to the storyline.

I would actually like to see the Last Village 10 years after Zeals fall.
I think it would look like a nice place.

Probably just the opposite. Zeal was so striking partly because it was an unexpected jewel in the midst of a dark and dirty past. The people who survived, much like those who were expelled from Eden in the Abrahamic creation myth, no doubt had a lot of hard work ahead of them.

I forgot to add it was appealing as a place of total unity. Earthbound and Enlightened both felt the profoundness of transpired events and were resolved to create a new future.

I think that it would be a verry different place than all of the other time, with those trees they had there would be food, and with the remnates of majic(it wasnt taken away then, was it) and so they wouldnt be slunched and mumbling about there life, i think that they would be working to give there island some life and so the ice wasn't everywhere. I think it would be a generaly cheerfull place, other than the lonely mumbling zealman, saying hes to good for it, and the young kid slacking off on the tip of the peninsula, (sorry if my views of what happened are scetchy, ive only finnished the game once, and my save game was destroyed)

I wasn't very clear with how I talked about the Last Village.

I think it would be an interesting place.
I think it would be interesting to see the results of the Earthbound and the Enlightened ones working together.
Yes there would be alot of hard work ahead of them but it doesn't mean that they would all be depressed. They would probably end up happy with the results of the new friendship between the 2 tribes.

Zeal was the only place I really liked in the whole game. The floating islands, its beauty, scenary . . . you name it, I look forward to going there in each Chrono playthrough.

One of these days, I'll create a 3D map on Star Trek Voyager Elite Force that simulates Zeal and its cities!

Ah. Of course. I stand corrected. But think on that "new friendship" you presuppose. Hard work surely does bring people together from time to time. But hard work can also drive people apart, and there is no greater wedge than competing desires.

There's a reason that the Kingdom of Zeal didn't give birth to a successor in the generations and millennia that followed.

Agreed...Wish it could've been visited whenever you liked. I loved Zeal. Brilliant.
