I've just returned to Timber after defeating the fake president. So far, FF8 has been like sinking my teeth into a rich dessert. Everything seems polished and beautiful at this point, like reading exquisite imagery in a Keats poem. I'm hooked on learning more about the history of this world. Apparently, Galbadia is the empire. The characters aren't as blisteringly unique as FF7's this far, but they're still alluring. I'm definitely interested in Squall's past, since something major can only cause that kind of reservation and withdraw from society. The dance sequence was humorous; he did pretty well at some points. I can't say I like the faculty at the Gardens; they appear too shifty.

I at first dismissed Seifer as a bastard, but the romantic dream thing makes me think that there's more to him than meets the eye. Perhaps something happened to him to make him abrasive and flippant like that. Selphie is somewhat annoying, I guess, but now I'm glad she's on the ride. Quistis is a complex and curious character; she seems ripe for serious development, and I'll enjoy witnessing it. And Zell? What can I say; the guy rules in the same way that Karsh from Chrono Cross does. It's so refreshing to have someone gifted with the passion of youth on this adventure. Karsh and Zell both know that action speaks louder than words and aren't afraid to commit to an adventure at a moment's notice. The dude is bottled lightning, and he really charges the game. Every time he pumps his fists, it's like YEAH!

Other than that, the music is interesting. It's more subtle and atmospheric (without degenerating into unmemorable ambience). I know I'm in store for greater themes to come.

Oh, and my card deck is huge now. I have the Quistis and Diablo cards, and like a bunch of other high tech ones. I'm honestly seeking a challenge at this point.

I agree so very much.

I think you can get the Zell card from Zell's mother now, by the way.

*Googles*

Yeah, you can play against her any time during disc 1-3. Y'get Zell's card when you defeat her.

Thanks for the tip. Zell's passion in life will defeat all who play me.

:lee:

Z, it'll get a lot better. Wait til you reach Esthtar (i think that is how it's spelt). I would compare it to Zeal (no, it's not a Dark Ages floating city). Don't look it up though ;) Hah, and if you think that dance scene was funny, wait til the end credits.

I hope this doesn't ruin it, but around disc 2 or 3, something is revealed that really ruins the character's history, and just seems like a deus ex machina for a story the writers couldn't hold together.

And Quistis isn't an interesting character. The only interesting character in the entire game is Squall. And maybe Seifer and his cronies...and possibly La-, wait, better not ;)

Word of advice, boost up Zells power, a lot. Then, instead of using his crazy cool limit breaks, just keep on doing his weak ones over and over again. VERY powerful.

Esthar is a cool place & plenty of important stuff you can buy! Wait till you get there.

As for Zell's Limit break, here's a tip to save your precious seconds. Start Zell's limit break, when you see the skill list  press start & select the skill that you like then start again & execute it. This method will save you lots of precious seconds of your limit break & inflict more damage than relying your own reflexes.

yeah as the cheap way of doing it you can still hit 1mil (or more) damage by yourself if you get the longest duel timer (12 secs i think).

and btw anyother source of pulse ammo besides the ultima stones you can get have the shittest drop rate... well for me at least.

Yes, let's get back to topic. How far into FFVIII are you now, ZeaLitY?

I'm at the beginning of two. Edea is one kinky sorceress. Overall, I'm satisfied iwth all the characters. Squall is delivering as I'd hoped, though brushing off Quistis was really cold. He's tremendously selfish and motivated to accomplish his own agenda; that's a trait I admire. If I had to have the hots for someone, I'd like Quistis. She's intelligent and mature, while Selphie seems more of a cutesy fixture. Rinoa suffers from the "oh dear, naive princess" syndrome, but I'm already seeing development in her favor. And Zell?

Zell continues to show me the definition of kicking ass at life. "My weapons are these fists o'mine..." Nothing can hold that back. I hope he gets to take a shot at Seifer.

The Dream World is really intriguing me. It was somewhat more mystical when you had no idea there was a connected between the two worlds, but now that they're seemingyl experiencing the events of their previous generation, it's a bit less romantic. Nonetheless, it's very alluring. The dream battle music is also psychedelic.

That music is called 'The Man with the Machine Gun'. Heheh, it's awesome. I've heard the Black Mages version, too, it rocks.  :D

The best character is, and I think we'll all agree, Selphie. Sure she is EXTREMELY annoying...but yeah.

There are "best" characters? I thought they were all just husks awaiting the junctioning of Magic...

Oh, and my card deck is huge now. I have the Quistis and Diablo cards, and like a bunch of other high tech ones. I'm honestly seeking a challenge at this point.

BEWARE the infuriating Random Rule later (?) in the game...You don't want that spread around the world...But good job, I think it's the Diablo card that gives out all them oh-so-useful Holy War items, which make your entire party invincible (a good combo w/the Aura magic beforehand).
