It may not be curable, but it can be eradicated. I'm not speaking of killing carriers off, but rather containing and reverting its spread. The carriers, like all humans, will die eventually, and if the virus isn't spread it will soon fall out of the system. Of course, a vial of it will probably be kept at the CDC...
But anyhow, as long as people all over the world rampantly engage in unprotected sex, AIDS is here to stay.
It's more than that. Any blood contact can spread the virus.
And it is correct to say they won't find a cure. A vaccine is the more promising route with virii. Vaccinnes for virii, cures for bacterial/fungal infections.
