To increase fat-free mass (basically, muscle), strength training is the ticket.

Ah, that brings up something else I forgot to mention. Soda and sugary products have the unsavory side effect of increasing your appetite, so you eat more normal food in addition to the extra calories you receive from the bad stuff itself. It's a dangerous combination.

It's also a stimulant. Keeps your heart rate up. It's best to keep your standing heart rate low, which is what happens if you lead an active lifestyle. Lance Armstrong reportedly has a standing heart rate of roughly 30 beats per minute.

Hah, yeah. I heard from the wife of an army ranger that after they were married, she sometimes woke up in the night and  thought her husband had died. That's how calm his breath was from the training.

I'm brushing up on body composition; that's what my next post will entail. It really cuts to the chase of the science and reasoning behind exercise. It also puts forth more interesting and stimulating facts. For instance, being overfat (not overweight; overweight is relative, and a muscular athlete can be technically overweight)...that was a long paranthetical comment. I'll start again. Being overfat can raise your chance of death from all causes by a factor of two.

reading this thread has made me want to go outside and play some sport.
Oh damn it's raining heaps, thunder and lightning. grrrrr....
Damn rain...

Seriously though. I need to exercise more anyway, I started to recently and then i've slowed down a bit since. I better get back into it though otherwise I will be to unfit again.
Luckily I have an exercise bike. I'll go on that later.
Thanks for reminding me not to be lazy :D

Nice thread.

I didn't do any exercise since the beginning of summer holydays, but the stuff we did in P.E. the last half of the 2nd half of the schoolyear was very good. Our teacher was kinda like a drill sergant, what I liked, because I always prefered doing stuff I am told to do instead of doing it on my own(not sure if it is lazyness or stupidness). The only thing I physically do besides P.E. is to drive ~ 2 km to school by bike everyday(and back, of course). To be honest, I go everywhere by bike, the only time I actually walk a longer distance is when I go for a walk with my dog.
I suppose it's no that healthy...

Anyways, I hope you made people who didn't think of exercising at all doing it now.

nah i  spend about 6 hours a week lifting and 3-4 hours a week doing cardio.  also that ranger comment earlier....sigh.  i have always wondered why people think te rangers are such badasses.  the rangers are about the equivilant to the marines infantry.  the tough guys are the special forces, recon, and para-rescue.  rangers pt 2 hours a day and do alot of land nav.  thats not impressive.  ive seen alot of fat ass rangers.

now onto the body fat reduction.  you would want to reduce complex carbs and sugary foods.  splenda is the nectar of the gods.  things like oatmeal and cereal are good, but it is best to eat them in the morning.  also for fat loss it is best to eat the highest calorie meal in the morning so you have a chance to burn off the calories.  eating at regular intervals will also increase the bodys metabolism
fat should be avoided, but if needed it is much better to use vegetable fats instead of animal fats due to the lower amount of saturated fats.  fat free foods dont really taste as bad as they did five years ago.
protein is another big part of losing fat and gaining muscle.  it keeps you full which prevents snacking.  but it also helps the body build up muscle mass.  it is best to eat 1 to 1.5 grams of protein for every pound of body mass.  this can be accomplished through protein supplements.  by eating all that protein large amount of muscle can be built up.

Ultimately, a strong relationship exists within the mind. But I guess if you're going for trivial and casual sex, that's fine...

And the toughest of all, more so than any Recon, SEALS, or Delta Force: British SAS, and Canadian JTF II, the best and most highly trained special forces in the world.
