About the rise of Guardia and the Cathedral
« on: December 28, 2006, 12:35:16 am »
Are there enough details around the origins of the Guardia kingdom, or of a religion behind the cathedral? I know their weren't major plot-point in the series. But if there is anything on them, no matter how tiny or insignificant, could you please tell me?

Just that in Radical Dreamers, it is said that the Frozen Flame was held by a "kingdom to the north", which we like to interpret as meaning Guardia. But there is no real canon about Guardia's founding or the Frozen Flame's history past 3000000 B.C. save that Guardia was founded one thousand years before 1000 A.D.

There's also this quote from CC, Karsh's answer when the party asks him about the Frozen Flame:

Quote
Karsh:
   Aaaah... That's a top-priority,
   classified secret.
   Its existence has been rumored
   in the northern countries
   for generations...
   Legend claims it contains
   mysterious powers which can
   guide anima and change
   history...
   But no details are known.

According to the Ultimania Guide, he's definitely referring to Guardia, but he's either speaking about the Frozen Flame or actually mistaking it with the Guardia pendant (this part of the guide's translation is a bit confusing).

Hmm...wait. El nido is south of all the continents, right??? Well...you can't instantly say that Guardia was the keepe of the frozen flame, then, right?
Maybe it was Porre, Medina, or Choras...but that is SO doubtful that it's crazy. To be honest, I've never even played Chrono Cross, but I've heard bits and pieces.
P.S. off topic for a second, does anybody know where to find a rom or ISO or whatever of Chrono Cross? I've been trying to find one for a few days now.

It's not south of everything. I think it's somewhere in the middle, really.

And no, we can't tell you where to get ROM's or ISO's, it's illegal.

and Don't doublepost, it's annoying.

It's likely that Guardia was formed from the inhabitants of the last village, and remained as the largest power until people began to split off and create new towns. I haven't checked the location however, and a lot can change in... uh, is it 35, 000 years?

Also with this frozen flame stuff- it was used in the founding of Zeal, correct? If it was used to make Guardia a huge power also, coupled with the whole 'pendant' thing, it's likely that Guardia was originally created by survivors and earthbound ones as a 'neo-Zeal'.
