Why did Kid save Serge?

As I understand it, time split when Kid went back in time to save Serge from Lynx.  This would create two dimensions, one where Serge lives and another where he doesnt.  But why would Kid want to do so in the first place?  I dont think she could deduce that saving Serge would ultimately lead to freeing Schala.  Can someone clear this up for me?  Thanks.

In Chrono Cross, you can ascribe all the preplanning to Belthasar. I'm assuming that Belthasar had some contact with her, or perhaps planned this through Lucca.

My main problem with Kid is her Chronopolis dialogue. She suddenly demonstrates a bunch of weird knowledge about all sorts of things. My only explanation is that it came as a result of her brainwashing by Lynx, though this doesn't make sense. However, if you say that Lucca was the one who set Kid up to do certain things as Belthasar's arm, then perhaps she did have this esoteric knowledge of the Flame and other things all the time.

It just seems unlikely given her demeanor and behavior for the entire game prior...

Here's what the Lucca ghost says about this:

   Of course, Kid was not to
   know anything about this
   whole plan until later,
   when all this will finish.
   Further in the future, Kid
   is meant to travel back ten
   years in time from now to
   save Serge from drowning.
   And then, Kid was also
   meant to call Serge into the
   other world as he spoke with
   Leena here on Opassa Beach!

Apparently, Kid didn't know anything about Project Kid, she was to know about it "later." In the original, unsplit timeline, Serge died in 1010 AD. In "the future", Kid decides to travel to the past to save Serge (Belthasar probably told her about Project Kid, told her to go save Serge, and gave her the Neo-Epoch or something). So, Kid saves Serge and the dimension is split in two. She then calls the 1020 AD Serge to Another World as he spoke with Leena on Opassa Beach. After that, the Kid that Serge meets in the game is the one from the present time, the one from 1020 AD (and not the one from "the future").

Hm, the only thing you should be slaping grey_the_angel is a pencil and paper. You should not worry about one's comments if you can't even keep up with your "promising project". With that being said, you should focus more on yourself and work than me or anyone else, since it will only burden you and slow your progress even more, which will maybe later deteriorate. Cheers.

Impossible. How did Kid "call" Serge to the other dimension?

Isn't the white text that appears on Opassa Beach Schala?

Kinda confusing how she called him in the first place.  He would have to be standing at the exact spot and throughout the game, the amulet only seems to work withthe dimension your in.  Not sure how she could of called him without knowing.  If she did know, then she would already have had to know all about 2 dimensions and time travel.

Think this is what he meant.  Since you seem to think that he hasn't done what you stated, then you must know that the answer is 100% in the encyclopedia.  If you dont know, then you couldn't possiably determine if he did or didn't do what you stated.  Second, if you are sure, then instead of writing all that, you could of just posted the link to his answer, or did it yourself (if it was shorter which it probably would of been).

I understand people should use the search functions/encyclopedia before hitting the forum and you need to make them aware of it, but if he still can't find what hes looking for, then he would of made the thread anyway, or come back here still asking and it achieved nothing besides wasting his and your/someone elses time to post the link or answer it for him.
