GBA Port of Chrono Trigger??
« on: January 22, 2007, 04:26:37 pm »
Has anyone noticed that recently Square Enix, has ported all its old 2d Final Fantasy Games to a Nintendo Handheld system. Sure FF6 has yet to be on the GBA but I saw an ad in the Latest issue of Game Informer Magazine.

With all these old Final Fantasy Games being re-released, do you think they are going to be doing that to Chrono Trigger. I'm not totally sure. It really is just a Hunch I had. Man would that be cool if it was, chrono trigger on the go.

Let us hope that if they do it, they add the anime cut scenes.

Probably not. The FF ports are made under the "Finest Fantasy For Advance" campaign. Since CT isn't an FF, I don't see why it would appear on GBA or DS.

I wish they would. But the won't. For all of the reasons above.

So sad!  :(

Well even if its not a "Final Fantasy" Chrono Trigger was released under Final Fantasy Chronicles along with FFII/IV so I woudn't rule it out totally, but only time will tell.

That is true so possibly.

But anyone who has or has played that version of Chrono Trigger will tell you it is the worst version they have ever played. The AMVs are very nice, but the loading times are near intolerable to the point of ruining the game.

Yeah the only reason I never got Level ** was due to the load times. Just bothered me too much. Also, I think I read somewhere that the FMV's in the Japanese release have a smoother framerate, not jittery like NTSC. Alas TC, bad port or not it was still released under a Final Fantasy brand compilation, so stay hopefull. Also if you have a Wii SE might decide to put it up for download on the VC!

The load times bugged the heck out of me, too. I never understood why they were there to begin with. I really liked all the FMV sequences, though.

And a GBA port of CT would actually make me buy a GBA.

I guess just the way the psx reads the information from the disc, these load times arent noticeable in FFIV because the battle scenes switch to another screen and the load times are more than likely processed then. Also if you can, watch the import disc FMVs, the framerate is alot smoother, especially when Crono is fighting the imp or goon, and Marle shoots it with her crossbow.

I'd love that very much, but isn't the GBA pretty much dead now?

Yea, and no.

While the GBA may be dead, the Nintendo DS is not, and GBA games can still be played on the DS. (If the DS could play the old Gamboy and Gameboy Color games I'd buy one >.>. Anyone know if they make an expansion or something so you can play your old games on it?)

The expansion thing would be impossible due to processor stuff, or so I've heard. The DS has a GBA ARM7 and a DS ARM9, but no GBC or GB stuff.

And yeah, it'd be awesome but personally, I'd prefer a DS remake in the style of Revenant Wings or DQIX.

Well that's a bummer  :(. That was one of the main reasons I didn't trade in my old GBA SP for a DS. I guess if I ever do get a DS I'll have to keep my old one as well. I'll probably just wait til the next hand held, it ought to be here soon enough at the rate things seem to be going.

I doubt it. Although, you can get an M3 or something for a DS which, with the correct emulators, can run GB games and even SNES games.

So CT on DS is already very, very possible.

If they hadn't released FFV and FFVI on it, then yes. But now it has a couple of weeks left.

Heh. Not that long, unfortunately. Seriously, Nintendo just need to move on ¬.¬
