I have mine on a shelf in my entertainment stand, It usually gets hot in a little over four hours of extended play, but I've got a good job going so although I'd be p'd about down time, I really could'nt care if it died...but I'd be really insanely mad about my game if it bit the dust too   but the reason they overheat, is due to the reason why it's smaller..THE IDIOTS SACRIFICED THE BIGGER FAN FOR SIZE!!  Smaller system, same insides, smaller fan that doesn't work as well :x

Not quite the same insides. Functionally identical, but with less hardware, and a smaller process. The slimline generates less heat than the big one. That's why in most circumstances, it can get away without the larger fan.

And, again, it's not that hard to ensure it has proper ventilation. Unless you have an apartment that is the size of the average bedroom you ought to be able to shift your shelves or your table or whereever you have the PS2 carefully so it stays ventilated. Don't complain about Sony's inability to provide technology that is well-cooled if you are keeping it from using ventilation as it is designed to do.

Ok, ok, no need to tease , I wasn't really complaining about it in that fashion, I was simply stating that it seems to me like the big model ps2 never overheats, not even after a full 48 hour weekend gamefest 8) btw, it's nice to be back after a long sring break :D
