One Simple Category Suggestion: ''Sword'' to "Katana"

falchions differ from katanas abit though, while they are both curved katanas tend to be thinner not as wide and basically focus on giving a insanly sharp edge. falchions are wider, shorter and are more durable.

hmm i wasn't aware spears had dual points must differ depending on the the geographical are and chronological period.
swords in later periods were mainly slashing/stabbing i didnt mean to specifically say they were only slashing weapons just in comparison to the lances thing.

most of cronos swords (with probaby some exceptions) are probably katanas or a similer style of blade, if you watch his critical strike attacks the style which he slices his sword greatly resembles that used with some katanas (and variations).

Authors tend to class their weapons in an unusual way... Furthermore, There are lots games & anime that classifies Serge's swallow as a poleaxe weapon.  E.G.  Spellbreaker's Glaive(WC3), Galtar's Golden Lance(Galtar & the Golden Lance), Gelgoog's Beam Naginata (Mobile Suit Gundam), Arika Yumemiya's double bladed crystal lance(Mai-Otome).

Think outside the box....

cant be a pole-axe they consist of both a seperate or joined side blade and a spike, serges are a single piece blade with no seperate axe/point parts to the blade. glave would probably work best if we need to go with something other than swallow, pole-axe just isnt technically correct cause of the weapon design, glave is the closest fit.

as for the mentioned weapons unfortunatly i havent seen those series yet so i have no idea what they look like, ive only seen gundam wing and about half of mai-hime and that was ages ago...

they do, simply put they're a pike with a axe blade attached to the end. they use the spike for poking shit and the axe blade for the other obvious.
the style of the axehead/spike can differ so it can be hard to tell sometimes but they do have one.
they do get left out occasionally though, i think its whats causes the difference between it being a halberd and bardiche

If we can get back to the original suggestion, I think it actually is a pretty good idea to set up some disambiguation. For instance, for "Swallow," we can make three pages: "Swallow," "Swallow (Chrono Trigger)," and "Swallow (Chrono Cross)." The first will be a disambiguation page that links to the other two, the second will cover the specific sword in CT, and the third will cover the weapon class in CC.

As for what to call the swords Crono uses, it's pretty clear that they actually are katanas (almost all of them, at the least). So, I think it would make sense to use "Katana" for Crono's swords and "Broadsword" for Frog's swords. The "Sword" page will cover the weapon class in Cross, and we'll leave a note at the top linking to the other two pages.

Here's one other idea, which I've already started to implement as it's not so big a change: When linking to, for instance, Swords in Chrono Cross, use the code [[Sword#Chrono Cross|Sword]]. This will appear as just "Sword," but will link to the section of the swords article on Chrono Cross swords. This way we don't have to go around creating new articles, but the users will be directed straight to the proper section.

Serge's swallow isn't actually a sword but a twin lance... The only thing that connects Crono's Swallow & Serge's Swallow is its name.

Serge's weapon is a double voulge. Not really all a lance, but a two ended reversed halberd. (Double Voulge)

a short version of one though, and with a much longer blade that attaches like a glaive / naganeta (sp?) as oppossed to the side of the stick. but yeah thats roughly the closest general weapon class it can be called...
