Name you ideal Chrono Break character designer
« on: February 18, 2007, 06:54:13 am »
Yes, we all want a new Chrono game, and there's no question of making it without Kato on story and Mitsuda on music. But what about the character design? In your opinion, should it be Akira Toriyama or Nobuteru Yuuki again? or another famous manga artist? or to hell with the mangaka and let's bring in Yoshitaka Amano or Tetsuya Nomura? (j/k lol, imagine Magus with chains and zippers...)

Personally, I'm having a hard time choosing. I really like Nobuteru Yuuki, and I know he's capable of even greater designs than what he did in Chrono Cross (his works on The Record of Lodoss War, Weathering Continent, and Phantasien are pure art). Even so, I think maybe a new artist should design Chrono Break, since originality and the total absence of rehashing are what the Chrono series is known for.

I like the CC designs, or at least what I've seen of them. Akira Toriyama is genius, too.

On the topic of completely different designers, the guy who did the two GC Zelda's is awesome. So is the guy who did Okami. I dunno ;___; Definitely not Tetsuya Nomura though. We do NOT want emo-Crono. Ugh...

Nobuteru Yuuki again, in my opinion. I prefer CC's character designs over CT's.

Tetsuya Nomura would please the KH fan in me, but I think we should get either Yuuki in or Amano, as both have quite a deal of character design experience and don't tend to stick to one little constant theme like Nomura does.

Well, quite. With Nomura it's Emi, Emo and more emo- just look at Cloud, Squall, and Donald Duck ¬.¬

It would depend on who would be the characters to appear in the game.

Magus.

Which brings me to Nobuteru Yuuki. But I don't know enough other artists to choose one.

cloud and squall dont look emo, compared to the ones you see around here they look like normal people.
squall just acts emoish for a large amount of the game.

EDIT:
oh and Nobuteru Yuuki as a character designer would be awsome his style seems  to fit with the game more  than akira's did

Yuuki is the one I'd vote for. I thought the CC designs a hundred-fold better than Trigger.

squall doesn't like other people, cloud had his memory fucked during the point when he acted like that.
at no point did they break down and cry over everything, utterly hate themselves for no reason, or were unable to control their emotions.
no they didnt really act emo squall only got like the at points during his anti social stage and being anti social dosnt classify something as emo. hell do you even know what emo means anyway.

I'm kind of a Toriyama purist when it comes to this issue.  The stylization he put into CT defines the game for me, even though it might bare similarities to DBZ...

Toriyama is like Nomura, all his designs look the same. It gets boring very quickly.
