Haven't had much time to read and post here lately, but I just checked in for a few seconds and was reminded how much I love all you people.

Happy Valentine's Day, yo.

utunnels, have you ever done much in the way of speedreading? I find that it's the only way I have time to read a novel here and there anymore, and surprisingly my comprehension and recall of the story (even details) doesn't seem to be all that affected. I heard about a person who's eidetic memory lasted into adulthood, they could read 2 pages at a time, flipping pages every few seconds. there was another person who could read diagonally across paragraphs and the info would sort of process in real time while they read at quadruple speed, so a second break or so between paragraphs and voila, 10 seconds per page and you can finish a whole book in less than 4 hours, just like radical dreamers.

I feel I have some problem reading English.
Although I have used it for 20 years, but I still haven't master it.
For technical documents, I can read from beginning and understand it eventually. But for some literary works, I just hate their long attributive clauses. Sometimes when I come across multiple attributive clauses, I tend to forget what it was talking about and have to go back several lines to check. So sometimes I actually read the same lines over and over again.

utunnels, if it makes you feel any better, I had no idea English wasn't your first language for years. I didn't find out you were a native-Mandarin speaker (assumption, but you may speak more standard Chinese) until a few months ago. Your "mastery" over the English language is friggin' rad. I commend you!

I have a few American friends in Beijing, and let's just say that their Mandarin doesn't hold a candle to your English. :)

Same here, tunnels. I totally thought you were a native english speaker until some time a couple years ago when you started talking about chinese internet censorship.

All utunnels needs is some practice (and enjoy reading)! :D

Having known the guy ever since my first time at the Compendium I didn't figure he was from China until he once referenced it somewhere. Not only is his grasp in English incredibly good, but he is also one of the biggest contributors here at the Compendium. If you ever realise all the good stuff utunnels dissected and revealed in plain sights, all the simplicities and complexities he explored out of sheer intrigue and curiosity, anyone of us would be baffled. Then again, this guy deserves our praise!

I, for one, salute the guy! *salutes*

utunnels, how do you like Lua? I use it in conjunction with Moai (getmoai.com) since I use it for games. What are you using it for?

I kinda-sorta drew him into my experiments with Löve, another game engine (aimed primarily at deploying games on Windows/OSX/Linux, whereas I understand Moai to be specialized for mobile devices). In my opinion, Lua is a cute little language, although I'm still at the stage where I keep screwing up and trying to use other languages' syntax.

::groan:: That's exactly what they would probably say on the Löve forum (they're very into the questionable puns thing).

Baby/infant Wolves (or Wolf puppies).

And yup, they're nature's little angels!

Moai is targeted at iOS, Android and Chrome native client, but it also runs on Windows, OSX and Linux.

I sit corrected (getting up so that I could stand corrected would hurt too much right now). I didn't do more than glance at Moai's site, and they seemed to be pushing the iOS/Android thing.

Despite my stress-driven life, I feel like... the happiest person alive today.

Thank you so much. Yes, even you guys. Thank you... so much...

For some reason I want to announce to the world about how happy I am. For some strange reason I want to hug everyone.
