Yeah, I was going to ask, but I didn't know to phrase it:

How does one set up a rotating avatar in his or her profile?

Go to this site.  Make an account, upload images, choose the "I have my own pic" setting on your profile information here at the Compendium, copypasta the "Link to avatar" page in there, and voila.  Rotating avatars.

Meh, I say. Meh! I'll prefer to stick to my "changing avatars once a month" old fashionism. You kids today and your rotating avatars, and your Super Ninetendos and your Kingdom Hearts....es.

I suppose it's time to change out Sir Anteater, but I haven't really found anything to inspire me as of yet.

Awesome, I was trying to look up the word "ravatar" to see if it's in common use to describe the "rotating avatar," and happened upon a great cache of cool, random art.

I was going to propose that the sequel to Avatar should be called Ravatar. Like, every time Jake Sully steps into that machine thingamajig, he ends up in a different body. Randomly! I wonder what effect it would have on a person's psychological identity, to go through life with a randomized appearance.

Yeah, it's late...but at least I found a cool art stash!

I can make one for you; I've done quite a few here before. XD

I have all of the original pictures saved on my computer, so if you ever want any of them just let me know.  =)

I would love some of those pictures, especially the one with the two moons. The colors in that one are beautiful. I would just save it to my computer myself, but as you said, you have the originals and they are probably better.

No thank you. I'm a very hard person to make stuff like that for. Besides, I'd rather find an image that just speaks to me. Forum avatars are serious business after all.

My stomach is not particularly weak, but I certainly taxed it last night when I watched this entire video in its full length:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nojl3aiYBOw

The interesting thing is that I didn't realize any illness at all until a couple of hours after the video ended, when I went to bed. Lying down is the worst thing to do when I've got a shaken stomach.

My stomach may have been shaken, but my mind was stirred. That's why this goes in the Love thread. I've always wanted to see something like this--unedited, full-length footage of a balloon ascent into the upper atmosphere. Such a video is hard to find, presumably because most people have neither the patience nor the interest to watch such a messy visual from start to finish. This is the first time I've seen one.

I was very surprised by how much more visible the upper cloud layer is from above than from below. This suggests a working theory to a longstanding question of mine: On weather radar and satellite images, there are these huge cloud formations that I never see firsthand from here on the ground. My theory is that they're like one-way mirrors, opaque from the bright side but clear from the dark side...except that they're not smooth so they reflect diffuse white light instead of an image of the sun.

Now I need to find someone knowledgeable to check.

Here you go!

It really is beautiful.  I had it saved as my desktop background for a while.

Now that that complete and utter waste of space Jim Rex is out of the running, I might actually vote Democrat in South Carolina's gubernatorial election this November.  I was hoping for McMasterson to make it on the Republican side, but alas, it was not meant to be.

Just graduated high school. My college graduation ceremony is on Friday. They had great cake!
I wish we had wizard hats instead of the cardboard topped hats.
