The 3rd Birthday - a Parasite Eve game for mobile phone, still unclear whether it's a sequel or remake

I've seen a logo somewhere or other and it seems like it's Parasite Eve 3...so...hooray for Japan, I guess...

It's too early to judge for real but... the character designs are weird. Big head and small feet... And what's up with Golbez (in the logo) looking like Exdeath?

That's the result of Amano's artwork actually being faithfully rendered in 3D (albeit with a bit of chibi-style).

More FFIV Artwork

Yoshitaka Amano... You either love him or you hate him. Most people hate him and love Tetsuya Nomura, I'm the opposite; that's why I loved FFI-VI,IX, but disliked FFVII,VIII,X...

You disliked the games based solely on the character designer? And I dunno about that "most people hate him (Amano)" comment either...I'd say it's close, but plenty of people think Nomura's nothing but trash...Mostly oldschoolers, but plenty of anime fans in general I've seen think that way too...He's just so mainstream, I believe many of them say...I personally love Amano (& own his works in American comics: Sandman The Dreamhunters & the Wolverine/Elektra comics) and think that Nomura's iffy at best, sometimes he makes someone cool (Vincent was a winner), but more often than not it's all zippers, belt buckles, & black leather...*shrugs* But to each his own...

I think a VI remake would deserve to be done on the PS2. Square could probably bank off of it too.

I think it should be remade on the PS2, too, but it seems very unlikely. Though I also wouldn't mind seeing it on the DS...

Dude, I read the entire game informer article on The Last Remnant. It looks so fuckin PIMP! It's good that SE is finally movin on from FF and Dragon Quest (Bleh! I hate Dragon Quest!) It's kinda confusing though, you can choose which character you can be? Or do you start out as one and switch like Breath of Fire?

It seems you can't choose your protagonist. You play as the young guy. This is kind of strange since the old guy, "The Executor", is supposed to be modeled to please to American players and the game is supposed to please to both Japanese and American... But who knows, maybe you start with the young guy but will be able to switch to the Executor later or something.

Nomura's Parasite Eve designs are very nice, and he totally redeemed himself with his Dissidia designs for me. His Warrior of Light is awesome, and his Zidane is actually closer to Amano's original drawing than it is close to Shurou Murase's FFIX design (the Murase Zidane has some parts of the cloths arranged differently).

Really the only 2 games that I've played where you can choose your protagonist is Star Ocean 2 and Rockman ZX =/

There's also Sword of Mana-two characters-, Live-a-Live-several characters, & SaGa Frontier (bleh)-six or seven characters.

Not to mention MMOs & the like, of course...

I despise the FFIX designs. The Amano drawings are plain win, however.

My problem with Tetsuya Nomura has always been his obsession over odd articles of clothing, like zippers and belts. Take a look at his redesigns--admittedly of his own characters--for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. Leon alone is wearing three different belts on his bloody waist! What kind of sense does that make?

Oh, and don't forget Vivi...he introduces him then immediately Nomura-izes him by placing a zipper on his hat, as if the hat was going to truly stand up anyway with someone as small in stature as Vivi.

He's a decent character artist, to be sure. I love his work on Kairi and Sora, for instance. But for the love of whatever diety you believe in, Nomura, change it up a little!

My favorite example of the epitome of Nomura's obsession is Lulu's mess of a belt-buckle dress...Very chic, to be sure.
