The Masamune is imbued by the wielder's personality. So for Glenn it didn't turn evil because he had a pure heart, but when some evil guy stole it, the Masamune turned evil too.

i think so to.  but to turn it you have to be REALLY strong hearted...  because karsh, radius, etc. couldn't turn it...

Who can tell w/those CC characters' mediocre character development? Maybe they were bastards...we know at least that Karsh had a jealous heart. Also, it took Glenn time to fully unlock the power himself. Self-doubt & guilt can also hamper the blade.

well we're certainly going with what he have, and what we DO know and what we DO have, points in the direction that the blade (formed from dreamstone, mind you) becomes the embodiment of it's wielder's dreams.  thus it's different forms.

i'm not talking literal dreams, i'm referring to the 'embodiment of their heart', if you will.  someone with a pure heart (ie - serge, frog, cyrus) can wield the sword in it's "good" state just as others wielded it in it's "bad" state (and were unable to conquer the sword's current "bad" influence).  make sense?  no?

Yea, that makes sense.  The weilder's dreams most likely run parallel with their good/evil aura.

I think it's less their 'dreams' and more like their inner focus, power, or will. Like how Spekkio says Magic is determined...there's a lot of interplay between Dreamstone & Magic, after all.

I think we're getting confused by the definition of the word "dreams", but then again, several meanings seem to work in Chrono world.

So have we determined here that Garai has turned the Masamune evil?

I would think, considering the way Dario fights, and considering his black elemental type, that something far greater than Garai's hopes and dreams corrupted the Masamune. I mean we're talking about one of the most powerful artifacts in both major games here. I'm thinking there had to be some outside influence in the corruption of the Masamune. It is even possible that when Frog died, the sword was sealed away for many years, allowing Masa and Mune to fall asleep. They could have been restraining the evil created in the sword when it was forged within the Mammon Machine, and when they fell asleep, it manifested itself as another controlling entity for the sword. Thus the different shape, color, and capabilities it has.

And I wouldn't say Garai turned it.  Perhaps it was someone BEFORE Garai?  After all, there's about a 15 year window between the ending of Chrono Trigger (the anime one that takes place in 1005 AD) and Chrono Cross (taking place in 1020 AD.
