The Atom Edge can be in a regular chest. You're right, who's going to look there? Just like with the Anubis bow being charmed from Cryrus' Ghost - NO ONE is going to bother doing that.
Aye aye aye, for the moment. Don't forget what we discussed about giving out the info on some of these major things in the full release, though no need to do so for a demo.
Quote
I don't think GameFAQs would mind, though it's been ages since I've actally been around their forums enough to know the general attittude of the admins.
Guess I'll find out, won't I?
Quote
Also, since we don't have new sidequests to help the players "power-level", Lavos will be only slightly stronger in this version.
I question why we need to even bother with messing with Lavos for our demo since the demo doesn't go that far for the storyline, but okay.

I'm working too hard so I won't bother using quotes...

Yes, we won;t say anything of it. Though if someone uses codes to get weapons or looks at the code in TF (I'm not worried about it, it's a learning material for other hackers to look at, no point in "locking it" - especially considering on how many people have helped me understand memory values and stuff)

Another point is that in the grand final, the Atom Edge will probably be in the Cleft of Dimensions.

Maybe at some point if we can hack even more items into the game, I will restore all originals AND have the new ones, this would be best. I don't like changing stuff, only enhancing.

If GameFAQs does mind maybe it'll cause more publicity.

Ok, with Lavos. Considering the fact that I *just* got done importing everything, I'll just going to balance all the enemies up to & including Magus.
I'm sure everyone will be thrilled even if we have to cut stuff (all enemies done) out. After all this is only the first Demo, most likely will have another (2nd half the game) before we do the brand new sidequest stuff.

Speaking of which, I have some new ideas for this stuff and they are plot-hole free, by collecting 'data' of how you have made cutscenes I can deduce what might work well.
I'll worry about getting that to you much later though - still got to revise, and it's low priority. Also, this is kind of out of nowhere but should Deitus be somehow 'soul-bound' to Marle's Pendant? Just like Masa & Mune are bound to the Masamune. This would create all sorts of problems for the players ANY time they are in the Cleft. (also Deitus should somehow be trapped in the Cleft, otherwise he would wreak havoc in the Chrono Dimension)

Well, gotta eat something and get back to work. It's taking slightly longer, but it's getting there!

Right. I would not have worried about that either...if it helps others, so be it.

As it should be.

I'd love this too if possible. It may well be, what with the extra expansion capability.

Whatever the case may be, if it turns out negative I'll be the one taking the fall, and I'm okay with that, so no worries. It wouldn't be the first time an account of mine was banned...

Aye, that's what I thought.

Okay then.

Ooh, that reminds me...do you think it'd be possible to have aircraft in 1000 A.D. as was seen in the Alpha trailer?

...

Hmm...I guess in a way this would make sense...you'll forgive me but it's been a bit since I last thought about Deitus and his origins. He's a member of the Dream Species, and was created during Crono's death...so...yeah, I think being soul-bound to the Pendent would work wonders. Maybe if we could have an artifact of Belthesar's and Gaspar's to which their respective Dream Species counterparts--Bekkler and Spekkio--would also be bound. Since we know that distance is not a factor when it comes to what the Dream Species entity is bound to, there should be no problems.

No worries. As I've said before and will say again: the important thing is to get everything right, not everything fast.

Okay...I'll keep myself awake, unless you think it'd be best for us to test it in the morning once you're done and release it then, since I don't think Zeality's going to be on to release it to the masses tonight.

Sigh.

Ok, I'm sending you a copy as I go though and test. Sorry of any delays.

Make sure you read the README.txt file, as I need you to improve it if you can.

If there aren't any fatal flaws I would say this demo could be released.

Though, we won't know until we go through it will we?

If any corruption does happen, just note the spots and I can easily re-import that location.

Ok, now I'm sending it. Cross your fingers that Google doesn't go retarded.  :)

Okay, I've got the file. I'm starting on it now...I'll let you know shortly how things are going. It might take me a few hours to play through the whole way, but I'll do it.

Are you entirely certain we need all of the Coming Soon! stuff in the Readme? I'll keep it in--in a revised format--if you want, but I'm not sure if it's required.

EDIT: Okay, after a far too long hour, I rewrote the Readme. Hopefully it is acceptable:

Code: [Select]
CHRONO TRIGGER+ PUBLIC DEMO VERSION 1.0 README
(Please Read Prior To Asking Any Questions)

*It is highly recommended that for the sake of this demo you start a new

game, not new game +. While a new game is not absolutely required for

gameplay purposes, it is recommended as it will allow you to experience the

full force of the changed aspects of the game in this demo, and, of course,

you will enjoy the demo more.

Table of Contents:

1. What is Chrono Trigger +?
2. What are the features of Chrono Trigger +?
   2a. Dialogue Changes
   2b. Gameplay Changes
   2c. Music Changes
   2d. Miscellaneous Changes
3. What to expect for future versions
   3a. Public Demo 2.0
   3b. Chrono Trigger + Complete
4. Credits(For Public Demo 1.0)

***************************************************************************
* 1. What is Chrono Trigger +?                                            *
***************************************************************************

Chrono Trigger +, in essence, is a complete redux of Chrono Trigger, with

the intent of enhancing the plot, enriching the dialogue and gameplay, and

overall vastly increasing the enjoyment of the experience of Chrono

Trigger. It features a large variety of changes to fix all sorts of

problems with the original translation as well as alterations to the

gameplay to not only give the player more options on how to play, but to

increase the game length so it is not as short as it once was.

***************************************************************************
* 2. What are the features of Chrono Trigger +?                           *

***************************************************************************

2a. Dialogue Changes
Every single line of dialogue in the game, from the storyline essentials to

the NPC minutia has been rewritten, not only to correct translation errors,

but to enhance the overall experience. (Without treading upon canon!)

Chrono Trigger + will also feature a vast variety of new cutscenes

interspersed throughout the game where applicable.

--As of Public Demo 1.0, only storyline dialogue has been rewritten and

integrated, up to the endpoint of the demo, the scene in Ayla's Tent in

65,000,000 B.G. following the scene in Magus'Castle. Several scenes that

would take place during this sequence--including a much better version of

the scene in Melchior's house during the first trip through Medina--have

been left out due to time and--in the case of Melchior--an occasional

glitch that currently eludes Zakyrus.

2b. Gameplay Changes
The complete system of both loot(Tech Points, EXP, Gold, and Items) has

been reworked. EXP on the whole is increased while Tech Points decreased,

as well as Gold obtained. Monsters also have higher HP values as well as

higher stats for the applicable monster, in order to increase the challenge

of the game from all gameplay standpoints. New techniques have been added

using Justin3009's technique creation system, as well as new equipment and

lots of new items scattered across the land, such as special herbs and

crystals which will be used to create new items.

--As of Public Demo 1.0, only the changes to the monsters and the loot have

been enacted, though a few new items--the herbs and crystals--are scattered

in random areas.

2c. Music Changes
Several music tracks throughout the game have been altered to enrich the

specific quality of the music, and new tracks from Radical Dreamers, the

Prerelease Chrono Trigger, and, as always, the two unreleased tracks of

Singing Mountain and Battle II, have been integrated.

--As of Public Demo 1.0 Only Battle II has been integrated, though a few

tracks have been altered.

2d. Miscellaneous Changes
There are a great deal of minor graphic alterations throughout the game to

enrich the overall look of the game, such as random forest animals in the

Guardia Forest. The Millennial Fair has also been altered, and will expand

as the game proceeds to allow for a greater variety of minigames, as well

as provide a chance to utilize the new limit to the Silver Point system,

50,000.

--As of Public Demo 1.0, only the new Blackjack, Slot Machine, and "Guess

the Red Card" games have been added, and they all appear after the Telepod

scene.

***************************************************************************
* 3. What to expect for Future Versions?                                  *
***************************************************************************

3a. Public Demo 2.0
Public Demo 2.0 will contain the remainder of the rewritten cutscenes, for

the rest of the storyline, as well as the sidequests AND the endings. New

NPC dialogue will also be introduced in a few areas. It will also contain

the rest of the Millennial Fair updates, as well as the utilization of the

new Millennial Fair in all endings.

3b. Chrono Trigger + Full Finale

* Several new sidequests and dungeons will be added--balanced specifically

for levels 75 to 99--as well as new enemies and bosses for these

sidequests, and, of course, new cutscenes. Lavos himself will be upgraded

to level **.

* At least one new ending is planned, though more will be made if possible.

* Large numbers of new items, equipment, and quest items will abound, and a

new item synthesis system will be integrated(in function it will be

similiar to the Final Fantasy IX and Kingdom Hearts item synthesis

systems.)

* A new dynamic playability system will be integrated to allow for choices

made throughout the game--such as telling Azala about the Gate Key, for

example--to influence changes here and there in dialogue and certain

cutscenes(though for the sake of canon this will be limited to the new

cutscenes and will not alter the overall plot of the game, only minor

points.)

* Several new cutscenes will be introduced to take care of those minor

little details such as Magus having free reign of 600 A.F Guardia Castle

*Large amounts of little secrets here and there for the player to discover!

(Though, for the sake of the player, we will create a separate secrets

document so that certain items the player may miss are not simply unknown.

We will not do to the players what Square did in Final Fantasy XII.)

***************************************************************************
*                            4. CREDITS                                   *

So far...I am confused. I thought the dialogue would be exactly what it says in the scripts on here. (Gina's dialogue is slightly different...it's missing a few pieces. Taban's dialogue is also only partially redone.) I also still become frozen in place in the part of the Fair with the dancing "Burn! Bobonga!" peeps.

Also, whatever sword you intended to place near Gato is not there. And if you walk into the tent on the lower right of the blackjack table screen, Crono's head is visible from outside.

Yes, it's a fresh new ROM. I used Temporal Flux to remove the header.

It could be you accidentely sent me an old patch again. That would be an amusing error.

And that seems more likely each passing minute, since the monsters are too easy compared to what I remember from old patches, and most of the rewritten dialogue is not present...and that Kilwala in Guardia Forest is back with his shelter...

You don't have to remove the header, however I fixed a bunch of bugs, I'll get that version to you later, hopefully tonight. Just tell everyone that its taking slightly longer to test everything, but its getting there, be patient.

Well, I have been awake for QUITE some time now.

The game is playable upto and inlcuding Magus. I can't make guarentees after that. I would normally obsess over getting EVERYTHING PERFECT (seeing as I am a perfectionist). However, due to the fact that Temporal Flux doesn't agree with me (it's still bug ridden) I am not going to fret over it. After all this is ONLY a DEMO, it should not reflect the *entirity* of the project -- just give people a slight idea of what we are doing. (Though I would have been thrilled kittens to get this done and fully working) Sorry, I didn't get all your dialoug working yet. (Most of it's there in the latter cutscenes of the DEMO - but the beginning stuff is still kind of old)

Things I don't care about because I stayed awake for quite some time:

Dialoug in some parts had to be cut (otherwise I will be removing bugs for eternity, and just for what? a DEMO?)

Like Frog's Burrow Convo's are kindof messed up (I don't know HOW this happened) but the player
getst the idea of what's going on.

Melchior's Kitchen is f*cked and I had to cut it completely (this was causing corruption elsewhere for some reason)

Cursed Woods is also in chaos (the normal woods are there, the new stuff is walkable, but incomplete)

I will keep removing bugs & refining. (maybe I'll make a patch for the DEMO in a little while when I fix this stuff - that
way we can release *something*, and worry about text, formmatting, and the kajillion minor issues later.

If I make this patch depends on how Temporal Flux is willing to agree with me. It sucks importing one map and another dissappers. (this is DEFINATELY not due to lack of space, we still have ALOT of room in the ROM, it's more like there's
a bug when TF checks/saves a map it doesn't move/repoint everything correctly.

***

Also, in near Gato are two flags, one you can't see it's base and the other you can see the base of the flagpole (the base of the flagpole next to Gato has a Rainbow sword in it) This is the flag that's straight to the left of "Gato's Tent". I hope this is more specific.

For bug reporting:
Tell people to not even even bother with typos, grammer or text errors. We are all well aware of them.

Okay, Zakkie. Don't worry about it. Give me a bit to look over the new demo file you've got for me...which I imagine I will receive soon via e-mail...and I'll probably approve it. I too wish all of my enhanced dialogue could be put into play, but hey, this is more than enough for me. So long as the general impression is conveyed, it'll be fine.

I will probably be bale to make a patch that will fit the rest of the dialogue, but like i said before I won't guarantee when that will be done, cause we all know what happens when i set a deadline. ;) I'll be back on later, my e-mail is hella slow, so you should get it at some point. If not, I'll have someone forward it to you later.
