Schala and Janus as names for children?
« on: July 06, 2007, 02:23:37 pm »
This is a personal desire of mine, and I had to disengage with my fiancee when she laughed at the idea. What a bitch.

/sarcasm

Anyhow, I think Schala would make an awesome name for a first-born daughter, but maybe not so much Janus for a son. What do you guys think?

I'd name my kids Onion. That way they'd be the Onion Kids!

Now that's evolution at work.

A tomato gradually evolves into a superior tasting vegetable, the Onion, over many generations.

And then gets eaten with pasta.

No. No it's not, and I wish people would stop using this myth. EVOLUTION IS NOT A MEANS TO AN END NOR IS IT ABOUT MAKING SUPERIOR NEW LIFE FORMS. IT IS MERELY A LONG PROCESS OF ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE AND NICHES IN THE ENVIRONMENT THAT HAVE YET TO BE FILLED.

And Onions are better adapted to the environment of my tastebuds.

Yes, I am fully aware that most anti-evolutionists refuse to learn about evolution and persist in these myths...and unless they're willing to listen, I don't care to try to convince them otherwise.

It's when intelligent people who aren't foolish enough to ridicule evolution--the amount of evidence is truly staggering, and it is a theory, after all, in the scientific sense, meaning there is nothing higher(The term law being interchangeable with theory, not a higher level)--persisting in the myth as well that really pisses me off. I don't know where it started or how it started, but it has to stop. It's resulted in so much bad fiction, like X-Men. It's resulted in a lot of misinterpreted education. And, in general, it causes a lot of confusion and makes it harder for those who might be on the fence to listen to evolution.

So, forgive me...I yelled too much about it.

No, I think there's a certain logic to it: Human, to Tomato, to Onion, to Catpeople. O crap...you didn't hear that last part.

(aside) They know too much. Drag them in, my pretties!

Personally I think Schala is NOT a real name (or real good one) for kids. You COULD call her her japanese name which is sarah. thats a nice one and I think janus is actually a pretty cool name for a kid.

.......Just don't call him Magus when he's older -_-
