If you wan't all the charecters just beat the game then go through it again with new game+ youll have all the things you did last time AND you will be able to get the charecters you couldn't get.

That's not what he was talking about, he wants to know if there is missing character data.

Feras: I highly doubt that there is any data like that left over, but you're free the check it out. I'd help, but I don't have an ISO or know how to hack it.

I have the ISOs if you need them, although if you have the discs you can easily just rip the ISO's onto your computer. But a direct-rip (Copy and Paste the Contents of your disc) is better since ISO is just like zipping the file and you'll have to go through the ISO to get to the actual stuff.

I've tried going into the disc before looking for anything like a bin file, but there only seemed to be some other stuff. I couldn't find the character data. I know its in there somewhere, but it's very well encoded/protected. I'd like to see how this project turns out though. Maybe we can recruit the help of more experienced PSX game hackers.

i know next to nothing about hacking ps1 games, but i have hacked sonic adventure PC.

it might be worth a try to try to open the .bin (or it might be another file, im not sure) ior whatever file contains the models for the game in a 3d modeling program and then search through them, theirs a good chance youll find unused models of objects and maybe characters.

as far as iso's go, its basicly the same thing as copying and pasting the data, but a complete copy, so you can reburn it later. if you download the chrono cross iso (legal if you own the game) and want to open it, just get winrar (like winzip but better) and open it up like a zip/rar file. it acts exactly the same.

I don't know where to find any hackers specifically, but I would try checking around various PSX emulation forums, primarily the home forums of leading PSX emulators as maybe one of the programmers has hacking knowledge and an interest in Chrono Cross. I would also try Romhacking.net and see if they have a forum, because I'm sure at least one person has some idea how to hack a PSX game there. Basically try general rom hacking communities and you're bound to get a reply-- it's a Squaresoft game, everyone loves it, lol.

Yeah thats all I found too. There's just some kind of hidden file encryption or something on the disc. I'm sure there's some kind of program to extract the CD's contents. Try getting a hold of the people who did the French Translation of Chrono Cross, maybe they were able to extract that stuff. (I haven't seen their translation yet, so I'm not sure if it's an actual patch translation or a site with the translation on it...) But I do know I've seen a Card Captor Sakura psx patch translation--- So it CAN be done.

EDIT:
I found this guide, that may help.. I googled "hacking psx games" http://www.zophar.net/tech/files/thepsxdoc2.txt

try using either Alcohol 120% (i can help you with that) or Nero to rip the ISO, you can download them both off of their websites.

if you cant do that then download the ISO, its ok as long as you own an original copy of chrono cross
