Battletoads is a Rare IP. No way in hell Microsoft is going to let Nintendo put any Rare characters into Smash.

Only way this game could be made better: add Magus or Crono!

This is a bit of a short-sighted view.

Competition is good for the industry. It keeps people on their toes, and forces them to innovate. For one company to give it's competitor an advantage for what is ultimately a fannish reason is a fool move, and weakens their position to invest in better products in the future. Microsoft and Nintendo compete in the console market (not in the portable market though; thus Viva Pinata for the DS) so for Microsoft to give Nintendo an advantage (and Battle Toads in Smash would most certainly benefit Nintendo more than Microsoft) would be a poor choice for them. They want to be able to utilize their platform and their IPs to the best possible effect, as does Nintendo, as does Sony. And well they should; everything they don't give away is something that their competitors have to innovate around, and that is of great benefit to gamers.

Well the Japanese version of Brawl is out, and I'm curious to find out what you all think of the roster.

Do you like it? Not enough characters? Clones?

I'll post a response when some of you others guys let me know what you think.

I could have gone for more third party characters, especially since they seemed interested in. There are some other third parties that follow logically from the ones they have. I'm not familiar with Metal Gear, but you'd think that at the very least Tails would have followed Sonic in. Actually, Metal Gear is Konami. You know who else they have that would have fit? Bomberman. Not to mention Simon Belmont.

For first party, I was hoping for Mike from Star Tropics. They obviously haven't forgotten that game, as they released it on the Virtual Console (which I strongly recommend). Maybe next time.

I agree with you on more third parties. I don't see BomberMan being very good honestly. Simon Belmont would have been a nice addition for sure, and Tails would have been another decent addition. He'd probably be clonish of Sonic, but who cares.

My only other hope for third party would be Mega Man, classic or X would have been fine for me. He would have so much potential for move sets it's ridiculous.

EDIT: Nice I hit 700 posts! Ugh... I wish I could get Human Glenn back as my little pic over there. Oh wells.

Funny story, a local blockbuster sold there stock of brawl early, why I have no Idea

, any there was a huge "brawl" of kids fighting to get a copy. Here's hoping local news picks it up

I thought about going out and looking into finding a copy early, but we are getitng like 8 inches of snow tomorrow, so I'll just wait until Sunday morning to pick it up. I cannot wait!

Doing my best to finish all my homework, chores, etc Saturday, so I can enjoy Brawl non-stop on Sunday for 12+ hours lol.

Been playing the game almost non-stop since release. When did Princess Peach is become such a pastel-colored badass? I'll never make fun of women carrying parasols ever again. I'd be too afraid that they'll kick my ass. Seriously, Bowser must catch her napping every time he kidnaps her.

Sadly, I won't be playing online for a few weeks. Mine is one of the unfortunate Wiis that chugs on the dual layer disk, so I want to get it fixed before going online. But once I've got that sorted out, I'll be down to demonstrate how one wins at Smash Brothers.
