I don't think the TriForce shape (a triangle in a triangle) is a really big copyrighted sort of shape...I mean, if you see a Nazi Swastika or something, that'd be neat...But a triangle inside a triangle? Not the most original shape in the world...Plus, isn't it inside a circle (could be wrong)?

Actually, it's not at all surprising that the "Triforce" symbol is seen in other places.  I've seen it in math textbooks, as the Sierpinski Triangle, and some quick internet research reveals the following:

The "Triforce" shape was originally a Japanese Shinto symbol. (Shinto is the native religion of the Japanese.) I have not been able to discover the significance of this shape, but I know that it appears on many temples and old homes in Japan. Zelda Universe has an article on the subject.

This shape is also the first step of a famous fractal called the Sierpinski Triangle.
