Well, since it's been a LOOOOOOONG time since I last checked out
8-Bit Theater (I think they were on some Ice Island or some junk a couple HUNDRED comics ago, right?), I was skimming over it's Characters section (initially looking for those bitchin drawn pics of the cast that some friend of his did...and not finding it, much like I no longer can find the awesome icons, like the one I use as my avy everywhere I go...) and I saw MAGUS is one of the sprites used in the series! Here's teh lowdown from their Wikipedia entry...
First Appearance: Episode 654: Ominous[25]
One of the Dark Gods Black Mage worships and the one who brought about his class change. The Dark God appears to be involved in some sort of rivalry with Doctor Swordopolis, although the exact implications of this rivalry are still unclear. His official title is "Executive Assistant to Chaos", being one of many middle management deities in the organization of evil. The Dark God is known to work in the 'Ministry of Earthly Affairs'.
The Dark God's name, if any, has not been revealed, so Black Mage himself makes up the name "Darko, the Dark God of the Dark" in an attempt to convince his friends that he had really met a dark god. The sprite used to portray the Dark God is that of Magus from the game Chrono Trigger.
I am shocked and appalled that no one mentioned this startling turn of events to me...er, the Compendium...Because it's obviously so ground-breaking...someone using an awesome sprite in a freakin sprite comic...V_V
Now I'm off to see if I can find out where the hell I left off on 8-Bit Theater...
