It's my idea for livening things up around here. I found an SMF group hack that lets group moderators let people in to their groups:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=171The issue is, the Compendium forums have what...hardly any active posters? The group moderators would assuredly leave the site like 80% of important posters do anyway, and then the group would stagnate until I'd have to intervene and change things around or appoint a new moderator.
I guess we need a public groups function.
Anyway, my idea was to allow people to submit group ideas, with five getting picked (two from CT, two from CC, one from RD). I'd...shamelessly have my own special "Peach Mountain Shoguns" group. Anyway, the finalists would become chartered public groups, giving members a special post icon and group affiliation note above their avatars (like Alternate Primary Member in some cases).
