its a sad day when DBZ gets a movie, 360+ minutes of 30  year old actors screaming at each other, they'll do at least 4 movies and still be on namik if its anything like DBZ.

Mostly for special effects, I'd bet.  I'm not holding out for great writing on this.  I mean, I like the occasional mindless action movie (Smoking Aces being the best example I can think of), but DBZ would take the cake....

Seems like it will be a Dragon Ball movie rather than Dragon Ball Z, since Piccolo will be the antagonist. Or I guess he could be an antagonist among others, in a story that spans both DB and DBZ.

Anyway, it doesn't sound that bad so far. It just seems to be suffering from the "Chrono Cross syndrome" (a.k.a. "everybody is complaining that it will automatically suck because it won't be a carbon copy of the original work"). I say let's wait to see how it turns out.

Stephen Chow of "Shaolin Soccer" and "Kung Fu Hustle" fame is the producer, so this might actually have a nice lighthearted, not-too-serious humorous tone. Especially if it's really an adaptation of the DB initial series and not the more violent/ridiculously-exaggerating DBZ.
