I was just fooling around with some of these models @.@

they can look rather well detailed when put into the right lighting

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=tAfOxpVQNxw

as for the data exploration, i managed to get the dumping thing to work @.@ but as for decompressing the .out files to be importable to blender.... i must have missed how to do it while trying to read 30 some pages of forums @.@. i downloaded all attachments in this topic... now I'm just confused as to which one does the magic @.@. ... Dwarfs... i wan... I NEED Dwarfs @.@! lol

i'm all about the dwarfs ; ; i even tried to make my own about 2-3 years ago XD

No decompression necessary with the .OUT files, it's just a matter of choosing the correct ones. You see, there's battle textures, battle models, and weapon packs (which include weapon models and textures). Give me a little while and you'll have your dwarves. It's about time we go through and ID everything.

BTW, I just now saw your Gato model on Youtube, and it's godly. Nice job!

i see i see! there is so much other data in there that a % of me picking the right file is... low lol. I managed to find a few interesting stuff like the dragons and the big version of Starky @.@ Fargos parret and a porre soldier .... no dwarf... ; ;

Thank you! i like my gato model ^.^ its one of my favorites XD :)

Ohhhh, sh*t: Luminaire, I'm looking through the enemy models, and I never reported earlier that enemy model textures can be as small as 128x128 pixels, and now I've got a Mama Komodo on my hands that uses two separate textures of 128x252 pixels each. Will this be a problem?

Ah, wait! In the Mama Komodo's case, the dual textures are stored one right after the other in the exact same file; it creates a 256x252 pixel grid when they're placed side-by-side, and since one byte can cover the maximum coordinate in either direction, maybe we'll be okay. I'm attaching the Mama Komodo texture and model now, and crossing my fingers...

YAY!!!! oh... and i have another question XD. are the battle textures for playable characters encrypted? or are they somewhere among the vasts amount of pictures  i found from psicture? O.o i have most of the textures for monsters and such... its just that i dont know where to look for playable characters like Zoah ... XD

IIRC the battle textures don't have the classic TIM header, so PSicture and TIMViewer don't pick them up. I've dutifully kept the ZIP FaustWolf made in my Compendium "OUT" folder (like, stuff that needs to get published when the time is right), and so I'll attach it here.

ZeaLitY is most correct about the battle textures not having the Classic TIM header. In fact, there's inconsistencies even within this "Altered TIM" format that Cross uses for battle textures. For example, the very large textures for giant enemies like Mama Komodo and the Dragons (even Ketchop, which surprised me) begin with the bytes 03 00 00 00, whereas most Altered TIMs start with 02 00 00 00; I think it's a reflection of the number of CLUTs or something. This could throw off a file scanning program.

Unaisis, that video is just godly. Compendiumites will shyte themselves when they see that on the next front page update. I know I did.

Whoa, awesome. Since the Hi-Ho Tank was a "large" 256x252 texture, Luminaire's Blender import script works for all models!! :lee:

Did you find the other dwarves yet? OUTs 3332, 3335, and 3338 are the models, and the OUT directly preceding each is the accompanying texture.

Awesome, huge thanks for doing that!

On another note, I'm worried about transparencies that occur with models like MegaStarky and JellyBlubba. The texture for MegaStarky (and I assume little Starky)'s helmet, for example, is solid blue, but there's an alpha channel involved to make the helmet partially transparent. My guess is Blender isn't going to be able to do partial transparencies either. :? I've attached MegaStarky's model and texture in case anyone would like to test.

EDIT: Ah, hell, why not just try the Time Devourer and see what happens with the transparent crystal effect around Schala?

I think you can see how it worked out when I tried it...
I don't really know how to use Blender though.

Shoot, that's exactly what I expected, thanks Vehek. Such a shame -- maybe Unaisis can get the partial transparencies in his modeling program when he gets some spare time?

i fiddles around with starky and i got his helmet under a different ::but the same:: texture and set it to have a 50% transparency. this is what i got :O

Utter perfection! Unaisis, what formats can Cinema 4D export to? Anyone know if there's any format Blender can import that would retain the transparencies?
