FUCK, THAT IS A SEXY TIME DEVOURER PICTURE! Unaisis, can you take a screenshot like that with no shadowing, and saved in PNG format? And showing the whole model, since a little is cut off at the top. I'll try to rush out an update tonight or tomorrow and that will be the headliner along with the Glenn shot. ePSXe 1.7.0 was also just released, so that needs an update too. Also, FaustWolf, if you get a chance, PM me with short status updates on the remaining problems with Blender / problems with anything else. I'll follow the thread after that point in case some of these problems are fixed before the update (wow, that battle texture issue is amazing).

Don't worry; when the time comes, we'll definitely figure out a system for making standardized screenshots of the models, so it won't be like "hey
  • , take a picture of Glenn, oh wait, rotate him, uh..." or anything annoying.

What PSXMultiConverter does is just examines a cd and sees if there is any readable data in it. by using the whole cd, i could'nt tell where textures came from. so i just got .out files 3055-3687 and burned them onto a cd. i then put it through PSXMultiConverter and all it came up with were 250~ pics or so of weapon textures. i cant tell which files they were from tho. it just lists them as STR0001 to STR0330. ::Some files are unreadable::

to ZeaLitY, Thanks XD and will do! i've added a picture ^.^  pm me if you want another angle

Yeah, that pic looks delish. Hugacious thanks again for checking everything out, Unaisis. If PSXMultiConverter just found weapon textures, that's perfectly normal; the weapon textures are all in "Classic TIM" format, which is much more easily detectable. The weapon textures you're seeing are actually stored in every third OUT file, which seem to be packs of weapon models with up to 6 or seven textures/weapons per "pack." So OUT 3057 is Serge's weapon pack, OUT 3060 is Kid's, etc.

I'm having issues extracting the data from my disc.  I'm getting "coundn't read block 12" and stuff.  The disc is clean, and the game plays fine, so is it a software thing?

Welp, I got it working... aces!

If no one has done yet, I think I'll compile a list of what each file is.
Guess not!

I've got all the battle model files identified in the Chrono Cross data wiki. Also, I've attached a file list from the Terminus Traductions Tools (an alternate dumper, but uses the same numbering scheme as the Ramsus/Yazoo dumper I think). It's accurate, but there are a number of blanks where nobody's identified file types yet. I'm not really sure what would be the best way to do that either.

EDIT: I'm also attaching a version of the dump file with some of my English scribblings on it, which clarify some of the French descriptions. Some of my notes regarding potential pointer locations are misleading though; I've since dropped my search for pointer tables to techs and models in Chrono Cross, convinced that they are actually in the battle and fieldscripts, and possibly compressed. First thing's first though -- gotta get the model animation format figured out.

Also, note that some battle models are only present on the second game CD, and thus we still lack FATE, the various element-ators (Aquator, Terrator, etc), and those floating mask enemies that appear in the Sea of Eden.

Okay, this bit of news will be worth a bump. Luminaire or someone else who can run Blender, try these textures for Serge and Flea and see if all the texture problems go away. Turns out I've been doing bad rips all along in TileMolester, because I was not byte shifting far enough, which prevented me from capturing the bottom few rows of pixels for each texture.

If anyone wants a specific model, you can look it up in the Chrono Cross data wiki. The models are linked from the list of Yazoo's output folders, specifically MISC/OUTs 3055 ~ 3707. I will start a separate thread specifically for TileMolester training to get proper texture rips from the appropriate OUT files; I've just frittered away an entire non-work day by ripping ALL the enemy textures incorrectly, and will be unable to return to that task due to other pressing issues like figuring out model animations. Hopefully some others interested in hacking processes will be able to complete the task once I whip up a tutorial. D'oh!

I would also like to kindly request someone who knows blender to post a link to the latest script, and directions on getting it going in blender.   Once I figured out how to import, I tried the large fire dragon, and the poor guy is jumbled still.

for me, whenever I try to use what I think is the latest script, I just get a "blender script error please see console"

Blender's interface is so alien to me I just wasn't selecting filenames. it was letting me import nothing!  hence the python script error about "out of range" in the console.  :|

anyway, now to try your textures because I'm up.

Also. how does one use tilemolester O.o.. trying to get son-of-a-gun's texture but no luck on ripping it from 3406 out file with TIMviewer or psicture D: ::Psxmulticonverter has too many textures to look thru -.-;::

The revised Time Devourer texture is attached.

I'm going to get a full TileMolester tutorial going tomorrow evening (so there'll be a day's wait, unfortunately). I'll have to feed interested parties a few textures at a time, because they MUST have some "buffer" data added to them to get 100% proper rips in a user-friendly manner. That means I've gotta run 'em all through a hex editor and add a few thousand bytes to the end of each. Square didn't make this easy.

this ought to make you happy

however I'm now sure that I have the older script.  and flea's texture might still be off by one row because there is still a small line on her face

Well that would definitly explain the textures being misaligned, I was thinking it was a precision issue in the import script causing the tex-coords to be slightly off. Fantastic stuff FaustWolf.

Excellent. Cornetttheory, what were the dimensions of the texture you used for Flea? I originally attached one that was 128x255, then realized I could squeeze yet ANOTHER row of pixels out of it, and re-attached a 128x256 version. That's the one that's currently attached to my previous post.

Looks like the Time Devourer's solved, anyway.

i kinda noticed something was amiss with the last texture. Schala had a unibrow, small mouth and almost no nose XD. this texture is perfect ^______^
