Southern California Fires
« on: October 23, 2007, 01:43:29 pm »
CNN has me under the impression that all of SoCal is burning. The "NYC v. LA" thread from awhile back got me to thinking that some Compendiumites may live in that area.

Everyone okay?

Ah, so it's just the usual. I'd never seen it get this much TV coverage, though. It's even drowning out international news.

it cause its the santa ana winds are blow so fast, the fire is jumping the trenches designed to slow it down. Basically, they can't stop it right now.

Well, that, and it's near several major cities.

That and over a million people have been evacuated. To compare, 1.3 million people evacuated the New Orleans metropolitan area for Hurricane Katrina.

They should make something in their houses so that when a fire comes along the toilet explodes and shoots water everywhere...or something.

The problem with that, V, is that this is in California. They might be able to rig toilets to explode, but these are low-flow toilets (California being almost perpetually in some sort of drought). As such, it wouldn't do much.

Yeah, but the drought is probably caused by all the water they have to waste on fighting the fires anyways! HAHAHA! Wait...I guess that's not really something to laugh at. Well, at least I don't live in CA...in fact, I live where water's fairly plentiful most of the year! Hooray!

actually, most of the US is in a drought. Having water mean your ass is now politically inclined to share it. (especially if your texas right now.)
