Maybe I don't know what I'm saying but a bethazar question.

So how is Balthazar in 1020 if it is the real time? Wouldn't he be in the future and have died by now? Does Chronopolis have some technology that can ignore lifespan? Or am I just the biggest idiot ever?

He left before 2320. The Epoch's right there, maybe Lucca picked him up.

Before 2400 A.D. at the latest. The Neo Epoch isn't necessarily confined to the same rules of the Epoch, especially since the Entity Gates closed after Chrono Trigger.

So he left in a NeoEpoch. Does that mean that FATE could time travel or does he not share the technology?

Belthesar travelled using teh Neo-Epoch which can, it's presumed, go to any time destination. FATE can't time-travel but was sent to the past by the Time Crash.

Why would Belthasar being able to do something imply that Fate is able to do so as well?

The Neo Epoch isn't necessarily confined to the same rules of the Epoch, especially since the Entity Gates closed after Chrono Trigger.

The old Epoch could travel through time regardless of the condition of the entity gates. Not only does Marle point it out after gates have closed, but they actively use this feature as their initial bridge back into 12,000,000 BC.

As for Neo-Epoch (or as I like to call it, the orangey one), it could likely perform the same way...      unless it was a prototype! Now, if it is a prototype lacking in that much free time travel, that might open up a whole new can of worms, but to be honest, doesn't it make a little more sense? He died before completing the CT Epoch. The history change might have also made him consider using a rough version.

What I meant to say is, the Epoch seems to be fixed to 65KK, 12K, 600, 1K, 1999, or 2300, the original Entity dates. The Neo Epoch might be able to travel anywhere in time contrarily.

Remember also that Balthasar had/became a Nu assistant. Also, there seems to have been a massive increase in Nu population between 1000 and 1020.

There was concept art for a Nu character in the demo version without antenna eyes; the demo also had Beach Bums. So we believe Kato was not suggesting that Beach Bums are Nu, but didn't have enough time to commission a Nu model for Belthasar's room.

EDIT: Never mind. I misunderstood whay you were saying. I thought you were saying that the Epoch could travel anywhere regardless of the gates. Rereading it, you weren't.

You wanted to know why Belthasar could time travel but Fate couldn't. I don't understand what leads you to the thought that Belthasar being able to do a thing implies that Fate could as well. If reading my question makes you think that such an assumption is baseless, then yes, I've answered your question. If you still think that there is a basis for that connection, then I have not answered your question.
