Chrono Trigger in Lojban (krono tcriga)
« on: March 02, 2008, 04:12:31 pm »
I've been thinking about translating Chrono Trigger in Lojban but, who would actually play it? Do you speak Lojban?

Thank you for putting one more wrinkle in my brain.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lojban

I never would have looked that up had it not been for this thread. I still have to read up on the language's qualities, but it is a "consciously created" as opposed to an "inherited" language, correct? Is it something like Esperanto, with the goal being a universal language?

Lojban is a language that was created on Sapir–Whorf hypothesis (SWH) which states "the language a person speaks determines the way they view the world". It states language should be completely logical and simple yet rich abd should be able to express all emotions.

An example of how English affect our way is us seeing time as a place in space. For example, we say "3 days" as if days are an object that can be counted.

NICE job! I don't know what's being said, but it looks pretty in terms of quality.

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is the development of the translation:

The bad news is, when using Temporal Flux I removed the header and now I can't use my "Chrono Trigger text editor". I know Temporal Flux can also be used as a text editor but it doesn't allow me to edit the dialog. I only can edit "item names", "item descriptions", "menu texts" but not the dialog. Does anyone know why the "dialog" option does not appear? Otherwise the project will be canceled.

arpgme, you might be able to slap the header data right back on so you can use it in your text editor. Are you familiar with using hex editors at all?

I know what hex editors are but I have no experience with using them... I'll try to re-download the rom and browse for the patch to add it to my lojban translated rom

If you can't find what you need, I can very easily make a patch to apply a header to your lojban ROM when I get back to my computer tomorrow. That way you can keep the progress you've already made on your ROM.

I found the header's code. I must enter the header's code in the beginning of "non-headed" Chrono Trigger code.

Here is the code:

Code: [Select]
00 02 30 80 00 00 00 00 AA BB 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Bad news: I corrupted the rom file while working with and without the header. I can't even save the rom file to continue progress!

here is the rom of all I have done:

arpgme, are you still having corruption issues, or has that been solved? I'll create a header patch just for the heck of it, since it might prove useful to you and others in the future.

A "header patch" is useless because it'll contain most of the rom.

In Temporal Flux 2.00 and up, dialog is modified by opening up the events for a location.
