Wasn't that seed supposed to be just an ordinary seed? I thought that was the reason the queen thought it was worth destroying.

The Queen, influenced by Lavos, was destroying or banning all the planet's innate magical things. Mystic seedlings, that place with the Nu, anything that was developed before they harnessed Lavos' power that could potentially harm him. That's why half the game is gathering said items and magics in order to beat Lavos.

okay, this is the analysis section.  lets keep it on topic and away from the sarcastic banter.  there's no use for it here.

i think it's safe to say that OBVIOUSLY the ending of chrono cross (referring to the planet's dreams) is meaningful and insightful towards the entire universal schism of the chrono universe.  however, he must also be aware that the words are seemingly cryptic - like poetry - and can be interpreted a wide variety of ways.  this is ANALYSIS, not DEBATE.

i'm not going to delve into the thought process that involves "game oversight" or "convenient plot happenings", but the planet being alive is at this point a theory.  granted, it's recognized by many in the compendium forums, but it's still a theory.  we can argue all day back and forth over it, and we SHOULD be discussing it, but nothing should be set in stone.  not at this point in the game.

While I don't see a problem using sarcasm if a point is being made, I generally agree w/the rest of your post...Though you don't get to the Theory stage w/o extensive testing & EVIDENCE. The only way to set in stone is to verify (which I believe HAS been more or less done by Kato interviews) or to completely disregard all other possible theories...Which I am NOT saying to do, exactly, but until a feasible theory is placed, I don't think that anyone else should so callously throw away the evidence there is that it IS the planet.

What? I thought it was made by the Guru (I forget which one it says...I'm guessing of Life...so that'd be...Melchior, right?).

Actually, I think the lady in Zeal just said that the Guru of Life just gave her the sapling and said it had the power to restore the environment someday. Lets see, good ol chapter 18...

Quote from: Young Woman in Zeal, NA/RT
But the Queen ordered me to burn this sapling I received from the Guru of Life/But the Queen said to burn up this sapling that I received from the Philosopher of Life.

He said it was a magical sapling, with powers to cure the environment./And yet the Philosopher said that it is a mysterious sapling with the power to protect greenery.

Right, so Melchior may or may not have created it, but at the very least he found it.

Hmm... has it ever been determined where the wood for the Astral Amulet came from? This sapling might be it.

They would both appear to have protective properties...plus, you also have to take into account the GreenDream that Robo made using sap from the sapling's forest...

It has the power to restore someone to life once they've died...That sounds enough like rewinding time a bit when someone's in trouble, eh?

Hasn't been mentioned what materials were used for the amulet, that amulet is still a mystery. However, I doubt it's even made out of wood, as it's purple. It looks more like some kind of pouch to me.

The Astral Amulet is the name given to an enigmatic pouch and wooden pendant within carried by Kid. Its origins are unclear; the pendant was probably created by Lucca soon after Kid came to live with her. The pouch bears the Zeal royal crest in black and gold, and is otherwise colored purple; its existence is a total mystery. Kid presumably had the Astral Amulet on her when Lucca's house burned to the ground. In 1020 A.D., after Kid and Serge first met, they were told by Direa that the amulet possessed an extraordinary power that could unlock doors to other worlds. Later, after Kid had been poisoned, she instructed Serge to use it to go between Home World and Another World at will (and depending on events, he kept it or Korcha made him leave it at her side). The amulet was successfully used to this end until Serge's body transformed to that of Lynx; it then stopped responding to Angelus Errare. After the Dead Sea was dissolved, it functioned regularly until the end of Serge's quest and the Unification of Dimensions. How it was imbued with the ability to effect Serge's constant crossing the dimensions is unknown. While Schala's Pendant seems as if it can be construed as the object inside the pouch, remember that it was made out of Dreamstone, not wood. Similarly, Kid's incomplete Time Egg also appears (from the complete Key Item picture) to be made out of magical, perhaps composite materials, suggesting it is a different item apart from the amulet and Pendant as well.

Why not check the Encyclopedia once in a while? lol

In-game evidence please.

The encyclopedia can say what they want, as long as it's not said in the game, it doesn't have to be true. This pendant doesn't look the least bit like wood to me, save for the string. Seriously, that pendant is not made of wood.

Edit: Now that I read carefully, like you should've probably done also, it says enigmatic pouch and wooden pendant. I guess they mean with this the amulet is a pouch, and the string is made from wood.

Good point; unfortunately the encyclopedia doesn't cite its sources and that could be relevent.

Edit: Now that I read carefully, like you should've probably done also, it says enigmatic pouch and wooden pendant. I guess they mean with this the amulet is a pouch, and the string is made from wood.

Except it also states that the "wooden pendant" is "within" the "enigmatic pouch." That isn't a series of descriptions, they're two totally separate objects, one containing the other. The string is presumably plant matter, but certainly not the wood being referred to.

Ok, really... How could anyone know what's inside it? This is one of those things the Compendium made up out of nowhere.

It is a good question as to how anyone knows what is inside. As mentioned, unfortunately the source for that information isn't cited. Without a source, it is quite reasonably to claim that the Compendium made it up (though that would be a rather random bit of info for someone to have made up).

However, as you were arguing from what the encyclopedia said, it is reasonable to point out that "it" did not say what you claimed it said.

I know, I read it wrong.

But I'm pretty sure it has never been mentioned ingame what was inside the pouch from the amulet. I recently finished it again, so if something would have been said about it, I would've remembered it.

No one sees it because no one thinks to "use" it on Lucca at Opassa Beach, which triggers this speech:

 [Lucca]
   That's the amulet Kid
always had so dear to her
   heart!
   If you look carefully you'll
see that the design on the
   cloth bag is the ancient
   kingdom's royal crest.
   Inside the bag is a
   wooden pendant.

Yeah, it's kind of an annoying/interesting part of Cross that there are so goddamn many micro-events like that where you need to do specific things w/certain characters at just the right time to trigger certain dialogs. Does the Compendium have a complete list of those events? I'm fairly sure that there must be a FAQ over on GameFAQs, but I always wanted an unspoilerific FAQ that just says stuff like "take character X to location Y or do Z to get extra dialog"...but I dunno...it's been a LOOOOOONG time since last I looked through any of the Chrono FAQs (prob last one was for the developer's room, which I STILL don't fully understand).
