While we've got a Kingdom Hearts thread up, anyone know if there are new character/enemy models in Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix + that aren't in the original release of Kingdom Hearts II? I'm picking up older PS2 games once they reach the magic $19.99 price, in hopes that one day I will achieve the skills necessary to rip character models and environments that catch my eye. Finding one's perfect hobby is a life-altering experience.

Would the 3-D models from Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (which comes with Final Mix) count?

Definitely, thanks for pointing that out. I'll search for pics and videos displaying the character models in the PS2 remake of Chain of Memories and that will be the deciding factor as to whether I end up importing Final Mix+. Though I've never explored Japanese games in a hex editor; sometimes important clues are hidden in the English file names, so it makes a slight difference.

I played the Remake of Chains of Memories but it has a strange gameplay and it's too hard because it's in japanese.

Chain of Memories isn't really a big text-heavy game though...But I guess if you haven't played the original getting used to the battle system w/o some textual cues might be difficult...

CoM on PS2, huh...weird...it was barely any good on the GBA...>_> Wasn't it something ridiculous like 14+ Megs because of that ending FMV?

There are a few new enemies in Final Mix...but most are recolors.

I suspect that is because it was a rather gimmicky game. The plot was barely existent, the various "levels" were poor rehashes of the original game, so as far as I could see the only reason for playing it to the end was for the game mechanics. Battling using cards is hardly an original idea (though I don't think I've been misfortunate enough to see many where physical actions like swinging a sword relied on what card one draws), but I can see how it would interest some people (I think there is an entire series of video games based around such a concept).

Ha, I totally emulate Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, how horrible is that? I can't even use the multi-player function! I just play the CPU! The anime totally brainwashed me! Saddened yet? V_V

Anyways, yeah, CoM had an alright battle system. Not many RPGs you'll be so fervently using your trigger finger to find just the right attack. Good 'n' actiony...though the boss battles were somewhat...lacking. Yeah, the levels were all boring, random messes that were all pretty much the exact same. But, hey! FMV at the end...hooray...? It's so Gaiden it hurts.

Yeah, there is something fundamentally addicting to anything that allows you to collect stuff (I still have my ol' Star Wars CCG deck somewhere... fun game when played with house rules, but certainly not worth the money spent on it).

But I am not sure Chain of Memories can really have Gaiden status. Burried underneath layers of craptacular pulls and senseless button mashing there were a few important plot elements (like the entire Organization XIII, which was neither an organization nor XIII by the time KH2 rolls around). If only they had made a real game of it, it might have been fun.

Maybe if they had made it a Ninja Gaiden, rather than just the run of the mill gaiden. Ninjas improve everything, or something like that.

Yeah, since I haven't played the rest of the series I'm not exactly clear on all the particulars...but from what I remember CoM's story was basically you get trapped somewhere for the game and then you escape at the end...Seemed fairly Gaiden-esk at the least...*shrugs*

Which is why I like games like Banjo-Kazooie and the like....lots of e-stuff to collect....  99/100 notes!? I won't rest until I get 103/100!
