Alrighty.  His face is suppose to be pale though...considering that's his actual face coloring AND palette.
You see, there is a problem there because of that contrast: you can notice that the cloth was drawn on an original artwork. Now, you can solve that only in 2 ways: give the cloth a more "artworkish" effect or reduce the artwork effect on his face and make it look more anime like.

I think, if anything, the cloth in the portrait needs to be DARKER! The current color doesn't seem to match the colors of the Prophet's cowl in his sprites (especially the highlights on the cloth)...Everything else looks fine in it though...that's what I think...

Aside from that, about the Prophet...perhaps he DID change his physical appearance even under the cowl...Or else perhaps he's just contorting his body differently in order to further conceal his identity...or something...anyways...

Save icon looks great, too!

Yeah, that looks good...maybe try to see how it looks darkening the shadows around his eye though? Maybe not, actually, I dunno...I think it looks good like that.

Have you tried adjusting the last 8 bytes of the SA to change the x/y coordinates of the groups?

Screeny update.  There's a frikin little line that I can't allign right..if I try to, it puts the point on top of his hood out of place X_X.  I can't move it <-- either or Down because it'll remove ANOTHER area of the sprite DX!  I wish I knew his NPC's SA

What's wrong w/it? The line there near his left shoulder, you mean? Or what? What would happen if we shaved the bottom pixel line of his shadow? Would that solve anything? I'm just thinking of space...but I don't know anything about what's needed or wrong or w/e...

False Prophet Magus uses SA $82, which is at 1E85C0.

Where's this line you're talking about?

See the line hanging by his head?  That should be moved down to his shoulder

Hey everyone, sorry about all the text, I just read the entire thread and wrote my thoughts as I went... Thank you.

Making the hood less pointy doesn't appeal to me, I like it the way it has been for the past 13 years or so.  (And I disagree with showing more of Magus' face w/hood)  A random idea of mine is to have the face down dead animation be him with no hood, it may or may not make it look more like a failure stance.  (And if it's hard to make the downed magus w/ hood on then it makes more sense)

I do like the cute lucca portrait, but I think the hooded portrait deserves some spotlight, it's very cool. After all, these sprites are also for future projects right?  The portrait Justin3009 showed looks amazing, but I don't know if the lining should be too orange, I've looked at the values of the 3 main orange colors and I think you could add a moderate amount of blue to each one to pale it up a little (The more orange lining is a little too vibrant IMO, but not by much)
Maybe you could use the first portrait and make the lining more vibrant, just slightly though.
I think his face is the right color, I would just modify the band/lining.
And the prophet with darker cloth doesn't look right to me.
I think the lining was two orange and that threw everything off balance.
I like it less every time you change it!

Great job on the progress so far everyone.

And justin3009, just to recap on what I thought so it is clear, I think when you made the lining more orangy, you over compensated and it threw off the balance that the first portrait you made had. And that is why you've had to make more changes to it to get it to look right.  I think you should go back to the first step and only enhance the lining a little, but only if you think it is appropriate.

I realized not too long ago that I have my display for this PC slightly augmented with Nvidia control panel (Digital Vibrance is on low)
I looked at each portrait model with it off and noticed that perhaps the increase in orange was more necessary than I thought originally.  The thing that still sticks is the comparison of the prophet portrait and the CT magus portrait (stock).  Your first shot of the two portraits side by side seem to match quite closely in terms of color definition, and I would try to follow that as close as possible.  Following the stock portrait might make the one you've made even more official looking.
I gotta hand it to you though, all the pics look excellent, I'm just trying to help.
I can't say anymore, I'm too used to the low level of "digital vibrance" on my display to know what would be best, just use your best judgment!

Yeah, I sort of realized this myself after I posted that comment about that...

Also, I think you're right about the yellow/orange part of the lining...but I still think the darker blue better fits w/the sprite's colors...*shrugs*...might look different if the yellow/orange was different though, perhaps...
