Chrono Trigger is one of two games that has...
« on: April 13, 2008, 11:06:03 pm »
Well this topic is about what is something that Chrono Trigger did for you? It could be anything such as inspiring you or anything you can think of.

Anyway Chrono Trigger has just had a certain effect on me. I don't know how to explain it.

But the feeling is the want for a sequel... not like CC...

Anyway, One other game has done this for me and the feeling came from Final Fantasy 7. They have done it for me in giving sequels and prequels.

But Chrono Trigger's creators never gave me a sequel that I wanted.

Now with Crimson Echoes (Is that still alive? and if so how is it going?) That dream may come true. After seeing two vids on youtube I must say that the chrono compendium must go through with it.

Anyway what has chrono trigger done for you?

I can't really say too much, because I simply watched my Older Brother play btis and pieces of Trigger when I was little, and I actually ended up playing through it after I did Cross, which really matured me with the whole arbitrary ending it had.

But Chrono Trigger opened up a lot of doors for me artistically. It brought me back to loving Toriyama's style, which got me back into mangas like Dragon Ball and Sandland. It also had the superior soundtrack over the two, I must admit, and it inspired me to start playing guitar.

CT's first sequel, Radical Dreamers is, I believe, what originally got me interested in emulation & especially fan translations (& re-translations in many cases).

Otherwise, CT was only the 2nd RPG I'd ever really played (2nd only to FFVI) and to this day continues to be one of my absolute favorites.

Um, it also made this amazing community possible, yeah? I think that in itself is pretty special.

Gosh... Chrono Trigger was my FIRST RPG.  I remember my friend David telling me about it one day and I was picturing a Mega Man-type side-scroller.  I had no idea what to expect, but since he recommended it, I went and rented it from Giant Eagle.

I played it for two weeks, didn't finish it, and then I went to camp.  I asked me mom if she could check around and buy it for me.

When I came home from camp she had been able to buy it from Giant Eagle for $5.00!

Seriously.  Five bucks.  This was in early 1996, too, and it turns out they were just trying to push NES and SNES games out to make room for N64 and Playstation games.

The memories flow from there.

I never liked how Guardia fell to Porre and it's just a personal thing, when it comes to sequels I want familiar faces or else you can't call it a sequel (That's just me though).

Boo that's a good memory I would love that!

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross strengthened by nascent romanticism in late 2002 (especially through Zeal). Late 2002 on was the genesis of my real personality; several momentous things were happening, and I met someone very special at the same time.

So under your theory, every Final Fantasy ever made after the original for the NES isn't truly a Final Fantasy? o.O
Seriously, CC owns, and even if you didn't like certain parts of it, you can't deny it was an awesome game, right? =P

Anyways, CT.... Second RPG I ever played, and it took me a lot to get interested in anything other than FFVI, because FFVI was and still is my favorite RPG. Both of these games, I love them so very much, and they helped me through a hard time in my life. They are my most prized possessions.

CT has everything a gamer could want in an RPG, except for the fact it's so short. It even has a crossdresser! It's a masterpiece.

Chrono Trigger was my first RPG, and it was like some kind of revolution.,
Back then, i was no RPGamer, i spent my gaming time in RTS games such as Red Alert and the like..
RPGs were crappy to my eyes, and it took my younger brother's insistence on buying some ps1 CD called Chrono Trigger (the FF Chronicles)..
he did not know what it was, all he cared for was that picture of Goku with red hair...

I ended up playing it, and then there you have it, a Chrono fan for life..  :)

Got me a new one...

Chrono Trigger showed me in ways noone else could how certain decisions could affect later dates.

Here's one:

Chrono Trigger made me go to my first anime convention, and got me to cosplay (albeit a shitty attempt. I'm poor, and katanas and red hair dye don't show themselves in my neck of the woods very often.)
