Not Certain

(I'm not sure where this belongs sorry)

Um if I was to write a story for a game based in the Chrono Trigger world would anyone wanna help make it. See the program doesn't work on my computer and so I'm kinda suck with some interesting ideas. I haven't begun any real work on the story I was just curious if anyone would be interested. It sorta involves Lucca's Letter from Chrono Cross. The idea that someone might try to kill Crono and co. Well someone uses a time travel device they steal (possibly from the Chronopolis) to go back an kill Crono's Group before they can kill Lavos using said technology. Before and you play as a few choice NPCs who travel through time to stop the group from doing so (for example Spekio could be the Magus type character in ability.) I wanna use NPCs who is they had Time Traveled it wouldn't have been to big a deal. Anyway the details need to hammered out a little but would anyone be interested in become the game designer person. When the stories ready I mean of course (This would of course give them a chance to give story input as well, which is why I'm asking now.)

:o Nice idea, but I agree it needs to be modified a little bit. Hmm, so you'd wanna make a game of this sort, a cross between Cross and Trigger? Hehe first we might try knowing how we'd make the game when we DID figure out the story. RPGmaker? And what battle system? At the same time, we'd need someone who works with the sprites/models and battle system/game while the rest work with story, art, etc.

Actully it's more along the line of "Lucca's Letter" but yea it kinda ties into Cross in a few ways. RPGMaker XP maybe but Ive never been very good at that kinda stuff so I could work on the storyline. I have alot of ideas buzzing in my head for a game, but sadly I don't have the computer skills to make one. If I could I would wanna go with the battle system from Chrono Trigger though. Maybe use Similar Graphics to Chrono Trigger.

The most basic idea of the story that I'm making is someone is using stolen technology from the future to go back and prevent Chrono From fufilling his quest and you play as a new group (possible some familaiir faces) to stop it, but it needs work as I said. (I intend to start working on the storyline soon. I wonder if I can find other people who are willing to help.)

Ok I have been doing a bit of work and I was thinking of using a cast with the same feel as Chrono Trigger for some part.

Either way the Story (although still in the works)-

It begins in Chronopolis before the Time Crash (Year has yet to be decided at this time), You start as a member of Security. There is a group of Anti-Time Travelers who believe that time travel is wrong and that no matter what history should remain the same. They somehow (still being worked out, I take suggestions. Maybe they infiltrated Chronopolis?) discovered the actions Crono and his group took they decide to "fix" history. They manage to infiltrate Chronopolis and steal a prototype time machine that a female scientist was secretly working on. You manage to get there in time to see them disappear in a flash of light. The Female Scientist explains that the are part of the group HSP (History Structure Protectors) and they stole her proto type time machine which (Despite the tragic situation) she is proud works. She then reveals she had a second prototype built, however it had yet to be set properly so it can only travel to a period that the other device has been to already. She explains that they must hurry or else history might change before they can stop them. She uses the device before the your character ever gets a chance to reject thus beginning the adventure.

However when arriving n you destination you find yourself alone without the female scientist or a way of time traveling.

Ok that's a possible opening although it needs work.

Oh right and I was thinking Tata would make a nice Frog like character what do you think.

Conversation:

Main: We can't take the kid wouldn't that have negative effects on history?
F. Scientist: I'll wipe his memory before we return home...
Tata: What did you say?
Both: Nothing!

Of course that conversation was just a little joke but still.

Please tell me what you think! If you have suggestions just let me know.

Current Characters:

Main: I haven't chosen a name yet. He's a a member of the Security although his job is easy considering the robot guards he still considers his job important. He has a strong will to help people, but isn't enthusiastic about being forced to do things, in the begining he really just wants to go home. Although he is like the Crono of the game his element is Fire.

Female Scientist: She's bossy at times and tends to talk down on people, however she doesn't notice she doing so. She is a high ranking member of the staff at Chronopolis, however she is working on a secret personal project. It's this project that  starts the adventure.Despite being sorta like the Lucca of the game her magic is Ice.

???: A girl that Main meets soon after appering in the past she seems aware of his time traveling and says she wants to help him go home. She is a sweet, but eccentic girl who talks in the third person from time to time. *Spoiler* She is actully the sister of the leader of the HSP and one of the 4 who traveled back to the past. She doesn't really care about returning history to it's original state. She only wants to help her brother who raised her since she was a child. Over time she comes to truely want to perserve the current history and stop the HSP but she doesn't want to hurt her brother. She is could be compared to Marle but she's nothing like her either way her element is Lightning.

Unless you have friends or know some people willing to contribute their time as programmers & coders or w/e, I think it's best to just write a fanfic...You know how many full game hacks of this magnitude are finished? Not many. The main reason is keeping together a team and keeping their interest. It's just as hard to accomplish (possibly harder) if you do it all yourself. If you just have an idea for a story, maybe it'd be best if you just...made a story! ^_^

OverlordMikey, the basic thrust of your story is extremely intriguing. If I may investigate a bit, what rationale do the HSPs have for changing the history of their OWN dimension? Are they not doing the very same thing that Crono & co. did, only their actions will lead to the world's destruction instead of its salvation? There's great potential for moral conflict; is the very preservation of history a goal worth world destruction?

In any case, definitely develop your ideas further. It is my theory that fan projects have the greatest chance of success when they have access to ready-made resources, which relieves a lot of pressure that would otherwise be on the team. Which program was it that you couldn't get working?

Also, check out some creative writing resources to learn about things like character arcs, show-me-don't-tell-me, etc. Here's one to start you off:

Ah yes I was thinking that to. It's sorta the whole using the enemies own weapon against them thing, The moral conflict is what I wanted, but I still need to flesh out the members of HSP and there reasons along with the rest of the story. Ready made material, hmmmm if I did it in Chrono Trigger style then I would be able to reuse certain things. (Although it feels alittle like cheating) Either way I have alot of work ahead of me preparing the storyline.

Um the one Chrono Trigger editer thing (although I don't think I could do this on that anyway) and RPG Maker XP (Although RPG Maker XP worked I still have to buy before it will work again my trial expired ^^....but I really don't understand the programing thing on that.)  If I could figure out the codeing I would make it on RPG Maker XP.

And thank you I'll take a look at that website.

Hmmmm I guess but I would really like to make this into a game. Maybe I could write a fanfic and see if anyone finds it interesting enough, or just learn how to do all the stuff myself. Hmmmm I need to think about this more.

I'll finish the story and see where I go from their Fanfic or Game. Perhaps Fanfic and then if everyone likes it enough a game! Although then there would be much for surprises in a game that people have already read the story to.
