StarOcean isn't that great. I only played the third one, but it was so long. If I hadn't had the guide to make such awesome weapons, then i would have given up many times. Plus I can honestly say worst ending ever! I really want to play the second one everyone loves it.

Just not enough Science fiction in it for me, I have only played 3 and  little bit of 1. I buy it thinking cool an RPG in a si-fi setting only to be disappointed the most of the game takes place on a under developed planet full of swords andsorcery symbology.  I'd take Xenosaga/Xenogears any day.

I've never had any problems with ZSNES on any game...both emulators are fine as long as you're using the updated versions of either, really...
ZSNES has the more freezing problems with Star Ocean then SNESx9, I know from experience. So far, when I switched over, it hasn't frozen once.

Yeah, I know, I read your previous post where you already said that...Star Ocean works fine on ZSNES, I know from experience. People that actually see much of a difference between the two are usually basing it on an older version experience or some other user fault...

I need to play this game.I wonder if it works for Snes9x on the Wii.

Hmmm...idk if it would, since Star Ocean was one of the games that used up all the 32mb of the Super Famicom cart, like Chrono Trigger...and there are problems with the CT retranslation, right?

I have the latest version of ZSNES. And the freezing can occur randomly, like when I was getting out of a town, and just walking through the forest, or sometimes when I go to then inn, and sleep, then wake up, and walk around a bit, try to go to another screen, it freezes. Most of it is something having to do with sound.

I will try it as soon as I get my SD card back.
I will try Star Ocean and the CT retranslation.

For those of you having problems with ZSNES, I'm telling you again, play it on SNES9X.  On SNES9X it runs like a charm.  I am 25 hours through the game and I haven't had any problems with it.

Would it be possible to get the second one as a rom? And if so what kind of emulator?

To anyone and everyone playing the Star Ocean SNES ROM, go to the opening menu and select the music player. In the top-right corner, inside the circle of musical notes, I found something either strangely coincidental or supernaturaly creepy.

Yes.  ePSXe would do the trick.  Check around on torrent sites.

That's what I've been trying to tell these people.

Arg to you people complaining about Star Ocean, and never having even played SO2.  Though I never officially decided on my all-time favorite game, it's there with Chrono Trigger.  SO2 is fun, eventful, time consuming, and magical.  It's like grandma's good old fashioned hash brownies.

If I can find SO2, I would love myself to death...Especially if it cost less than the $80 ebay asks for it.  That and Chrono Trigger (SNES)...FF3 was only $20...

FYI, the english dubbing of SO2 sucks ass.  The undub version is glitchy as hell as well, but it's better.  Star Ocean 1 was truthfully one of my most favorite games ever played besides Chrono Trigger.  Star Ocean 2 was a huge step in the SO series, especially with the whole combining spells things.  It was interesting.  Definately one of my top 10 favorite RPG's.

I never got to play SO3, but from what I hear from people, the storyline is terrible but the gameplay is awesome.
