The rom of Star Ocean kept freezing on me, too... So I ditched ZSNES and played it on SNES9X and it's worked like a charm!

I finished the game with Ratix, Iria, Tinek, and Perisie in my 'active' party. Definitely, this game should be on your 'list' if you consider yourself an 'RPG aficionado'. The ranking, as a side note, goes SO2>SO>SO3; everytime I play SO2, I spend about 100-200+ hours just getting every little piece of story and maxing everything out. Seriously, though, SO2 is that damn good.

And it turns out Star Ocean 4 ('The Last Hope') is for the 360. Dammit. Wish I owned one.

I think older versions of ZSNES require some patch for the mode7 graphics Star Ocean used...

As for Star Ocean IV: The Last Hope being on XBOX 360...

Quote from: SquareInsider.net
During a press conference that was held today (10th June 2008) in Japan Square Enix announced their plans to support Xbox 360 with at least one exclusive, and two timed exclusives for Microsoft's current generation platform.

Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope (Xbox's last hope in Japan?) will be a Xbox 360 exclusive. It will probably only be timed exclusive though as they already have Infinite Undiscovery.

So there, if you don't have a 360, you'll probably have to just wait...but from the screens I've seen, I kind of doubt the Wii will be able to support it...*shrugs* I could be wrong though...I'm not too sure of the power comparisons between the Wii & the other systems, I guess (not an invitation to tell me, I also just don't care)...

EDIT: Oops, I muffed the roman numeral...Allow me to fix your quote, too, Tact...^_^

Wii has 1 Processer
360 has Dual Processers
PS3 has 8 motherfucking Processors, biatch.

(I invited myself XD)

I hope the 4th one isn't going to be just on 360, because I'm going to be super pissed if it is. I mean, seriously, I know most of it's done by tri-Ace but it's still a Square Enix game!!! That's a disgrace...a SE game on a NOT Sony product...like the Final Fantasy III remake on DS...oh, they made THAT remake FULL 3D, unlike 1 & 2 on PSP. They just added some "high quality textures" and "high quality music"...

I mean it was ok in the SNES days but...not since they made the PS1.
Anyways, so yeah.

Why is it no longer ok for them to make games for other systems? Besides, you got...Crisis Core...*chuckle*

It's just easier, cheaper, and more lucrative to make the remakes on DS...In Japan (& abroad?), the DS outsells the PSP...I mean, damn, guess what system Dragon Quest IX is going to be on? Maybe if Sony didn't come out with a flawed gaming system, the PSP would get more SE games for it...? *shrugs* Although i think it's starting to get some reputable games for it now...

But really, I don't see any one company winning the current System Wars because each one has their own niché now, both within the gaming community & within their gameplay elements...The best way to reach the most gamers seems like a good idea to me though...

EDIT: Just thought I'd throw this SOIV junk into the thread since I have it opened in another tab right now...

I wasn't mainly talking about the PSP. I was talking about how pissed I'm going to be if Star Ocean 4 is JUST on a 360...if you want to talk about flawed systems, the 360 is defiantly one. Why can't they just pull a Capcom and put it out on both systems? Hell, DMC 4 is on PS3, 360, and PC.

But, the only games I like for PSP is Crisis Core, Chains of Olympus, and Innocent Life. Oh, and the Star Ocean remakes of 1 & 2, although the 2nd one is not really remade, just some added stuff.

SO4 looks BADASS.

I'm not real keen on it being a prequel, though.  I'm sort of sick of prequel's.

SOIV looks like it could be on the PS3... And only on the PS3 with those graphics.

Sadly, I've never played a Star Ocean game in my life.

Any requests on which one I should play first? I've just been so busy lately....I've had not time for games. I still need to finish Lost Odyssey, Persona 3: FES, Crisis Core, FFTA2, annnnnd I really wanna get that FF IV Remake.

Ok, I'm going off topic. Like I said. I've never played ANY Star Ocean game. Since I'm a HUGE rpg advocate....I'm guessing this is a problem.

Oh yeah. Never played Xenogears either.....EPIC FAIL!

Um...well, you could try playing the FIRST one. You can get the patched ROM, but make sure you play it on SNESx9!!! It freezes a hell of a lot on ZSNES.

Or you could wait until later this year when the English remake is released on the PSP.

I've never had any problems with ZSNES on any game...both emulators are fine as long as you're using the updated versions of either, really...

Anyways, yeah, get a Star Ocean ROM...I'd also suggest patching yourself, I don't know how much I trust pre-patched ROMs...but, w/e, they're both probably easy to find...

ZSNES has the more freezing problems with Star Ocean then SNESx9, I know from experience. So far, when I switched over, it hasn't frozen once.

It should...although I don't have a Wii, it's still the same emulator...just a little different.
