FF: Dissidia

New trailer!

Also, Tidus and Jecht have been confirmed: http://www.jeux-france.com/news27869_tidus-et-jecht-dans-dissidia-final-fantasy.html

I'm torn between wanting Locke and Terra for the FFVI hero spot... Undoubtedly Kefka is the playable villain for that.

Then again, it was mentioned there may be unlockable characters, so Terra and Locke could happen. If only one, though, I know Terra is more likely.

Ohh... Exciting!  I just wanna see the full roster...

I dunno what to think or expect from this game.  It seems sort of... odd.

Seeing Squall fight Sephiroth just took him off my lame list.

Hell, I'll buy this just for the character model ripping possibilities.

I'm really excited for this. Hopefully, they might pop in Crono as an unlockable character. THAT would be awesome.

Yeah, this game does look pretty neat. It seems to be a second attempt at a better Ergheiz game. Hopefully it's not as shallow.

All though, normally, these kinds of games are just fan service. I still wouldn't mind getting it at all, though. :)

It's funny that they haven't mentioned Cloud yet in either trailer. Usually he's the star of the show in anything FF related.

Yippee let us all hope Terra appears! I liked Relm and Shadow....has there ever been a playable "human" Final Fantasy character younger then Relm...I can't remember...either her Magic is oddly the Strongest naturally.....um off the point.

Hurray Kefka!

Now for an odd thought!

What guardian/grandfather let's their grandchild help fight a (completely awesome.) Mad man with God like power who reshaped the planet's face for the heck of it! (who's also one of my my heroes!) Even if she has powerful magic...sure he was there, but in sense that kinda makes it worse....Still I liked Relm....

Seeing Squall fight Sephiroth just took him off my lame list.

I didn't mind Squall.....I hate Sephiroth, I'm not sure why though...it felt like they were trying to make him into the "popular" villain in appearance and I never really liked him...sorry to the Sephiroth fans out their....

It kinda felt like they tried to take the crazy of Kefka....and remove the Color and Fun!

What's that? Did someone just make an opening for me to use this pic again...??

THERE'S the fight I wanna see...Kefka v. Sephiroth

From what I hear it sounds more button-mashy than I'd want...something just to placate PSP FF fans...? Maybe...Also, I've heard there are at least rumors that the number of characters could balloon up to as many as 100+ characters...! Since a lot of the characters are more or less the same in battle in a few of the FFs, this might make sense...>_<

I think it's funny how most Final Fantasy VI fans despise Final Fantasy VII. Yet.....a lot of people who like Final Fantasy VII, like Final Fantasy VI as well. Not saying it's true in ALL cases...but it does seems to hold true to most. I happen to be a huge fan of both.

Anyhow, carry on!

I don't understand how a Video Game Character can be a "wannabe", especially when said "wannabe" is made to be an improvement of the villains before him/herself in given series.

EDIT:

I think it's funny how most Final Fantasy VI fans despise Final Fantasy VII
The fact is, they don't. They all used to love VII, it's just become very fashionable to hate it since so many noobs started ranting about how awesome they think it is. The people who say they hate it are just too wrapped up in their image to admit their love for it.

What I can't stand are the 'fans' obsessed with FFVII despite never having played it. I mean the type of people who say how awesome Cloud and Sephiroth are because they're so dark and have big swords. Those kind of fans don't see past the game's appearance to appreciate the amazing plot, the depth, the character development, and the impact it has on its player. Hell, if you asked them who Cait Sith is, they'd likely say "Who?" and asking about Aerith would prompt an instant "LOLSHEDIES".

I love FFVI and FFVII. Imagine the horror if FFVI got as market-y as VII. The inevitable FFVI DS remake will likely be as far as VI's development will go anyway, but considering FFIV got a sequel... Anyway, FFVI DS would, no, will be awesome.

Holy crap this is a Dissidia thread! Whoops.

Terra would work well since she has her Esper form (considering other characters' transformation abilities in Dissidia).

I just hate the "OMG LOL KUROUDU-DESU ISH MEH BISHI", and "SEPHY-KIN IS KAWAII OMFG", and also the " UWAA~ VINNY-CHAN <3" fangirls who've never played the game. Pisses me off SO much. Like others have said in the above posts: if you go and ask them who someone like say, Dyne or Shera is, they'll just stare at you and say "LOLWHO????"

Also, this scenario, which is true and has happened several times with different people), has given me the knowledge that the entire FF fanbase isn't what it used to be:

Tact: "So, you like Kingdom Hearts?"

FanGirl: "Yeah! It's so cool and it's got Sora and Roxas and Riku and Axel and Xemnas *list goes on and on*... They're all so Kawaii omg!"

Tact: "Right... So you must like Final Fantasy then, right?"

FanGirl: "LOLWHUTSTHAT?"

Tact:....

Tact: *facepalm*

Case in point.

Yeah, but you argue the same thing for people who don't know anything about Disney, but are fans of Kingdom Hearts.  Personally, it's okay to like one franchise and not be aware of the other.  I mean, it IS a creative and unique mesh of Disney, Final Fantasy, and new characters that could slide into either series.

You gotta give them credit: Kingdom Hearts II gave FFVI some love with Setzer.

But I enjoy both FFVI and FFVII.  They're both so different.  FFVI was the last of the 16-bit RPG era.  FFVII ushered in not only the 32-bit RPG era, but the RPG era as a whole.  FFVII brought console RPGs to the forefront, which has allowed so many other RPGs to eventually come into existence; FFVII made console RPGs cool, so to speak.

FFVII brought a lot of new things to the RPG world, too.  It has a complex storyline - up until that point RPGs had fairly one-dimensional storylines (don't mean they're bad).  Amongst other things.  Both FFVI and FFVII bring something quite delicious to the table.

That wasn't any Setzer I (or any FFVI fan) know...That was just another Nomura abortion that somehow managed to survive the initial scrape.

But yeah, it has become more popular to hate on VII...I think it's because even VII fans have turned on it a bit because of all the spin-offs and also because a lot of new gamers just end up liking w/e FF is newest more. I have never liked VII. I anticipated it immensely when I saw the bitchin FMV commercials & magazine ads and then it came out & I played it and was just as immensely disappointed. The characters (who get little development) were annoying, the story was convoluted and everything just seemed like FFVI dumbed down and/or made retarded. I know some people can like the characters and the stupid storyline and all the little changes they made to the systems VI introduced to the series...but I'm not one of 'em. I admit to a bit of glee, over the last few years or so, when people started to hop up on my bandwagon though...:P

I don't know if I'd say "FFVI fans hate FFVII"...I mean, you might as well say all classic fans since VI is the most popular among the oldschool FF fans...It's all just generalizations based on, what? A handful of friends? Forum posts? I mean, there was a time when it was VII fans who hated VIII and VIII fans who hated VII then both hated IX...and we Tactics fans were laughing at them behind their backs (especially the PAL players who were left in the dark completely) all because we were playing a far superior game.

Anyways...Terra/Tina using Morph in 3D, whether it comes first here in Dissidia or I have to wait for an awesome FMV in FFVI DS, will kick ass.
