Nevermind, it requires me to install a lot of junk and I don't want the DirectX SDK and stuff. Why learn something that's Windows only? The international preference is Unix...

All you need to install is allegro, if you don't have a cpp dev environment I'd recommend installing Dev-Cpp but you can use it with most compilers. I can e-mail you the installer if you want but if your happy with your current setup happy coding :)

I'm not sure why you think the DirectX SDK is required, all that is needed is the directX libraries, which anybody that has directX installed already has.

Also, the allegro library is cross platform (not windows only), the code can be compiled for mac, win, linux whatever you want really. The idea is that you write once and compile for the platform of your choice.

The battle system will be real time, It will be similiar to RO or any other real time mmorpg. Techs (Spells) will also affect the battle experience. Think of the ragnarok online battle system mixed with chrono triggers tech system.

That video made me suggestion crazy now, so here goes!

Could you make it look a little.. less End of Time? The End of Time, I think, looks so dull and small because it's The End of Time. The Dawn of Time, when time began, should be everything the End isn't. In my view, it should be sand and glass, and, if possible, artifacts (Like a greek pot), looking brand new.

Also, in Chrono Trigger, if oyu hang around on the map in 2300, Hp deminishes to 1 (I think.). So, if it's the Dawn of Time, when everything started, maybe give it the oppisite effect?

By the way, the time portal wasn't that bad.

hmm, i could make the dawn of time a beach, but wouldnt you find it wierd seeing yourself on a beach sorrounded by black darkness of nothingness? I guess it would be cool, or should it have a beach?

I think a beach is actually a pretty cool idea for the dawn of time, if not downright apt.  It's a natural structure, whereas the end of time is a man-made structure.  Plus, you can incorporate Longfellow, "Footprints on the sands of time."  Maybe regular sand surrounded by a sea of black.

I think this looks really cool and all, but I think texturing and importing all the sprites isn't as mandatory as developing the battle system... once you have a battle system established you can get other people to do the grunt work (making sprite sheets and etc...)
