Did any one even listen to the rant? He said he likes the compendium in fact he thought Prophets Guile was awesome. He didn't like the retans and misread our statement so what? The only thing I have against this man, is that he would rather rant then get up and take care of his damn kid.

Alright then, case in point. Let's just put this all behind us?

Honestly, is RPGOne's reputation for hating the FF6 translation so bad that the stigma extends to all retranslations? Do I need to enlarge the font of that paragraph or repeat it 4 more times on the Retranslation page?

I can sympathize with that opinion.  The GBA retranslation of FF6 sucked away most of the color and personality from the characters, and the PSP remake of FFTactics turned them all into corny Shakespearean actors... and I've been skeptical of them since.  It would be terrible if the same thing happened to Chrono Trigger...

But I played the FF5 remake and am working on the FF4 one, and they don't seem as bad...  I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just read the new EGM, and they just talked about how they did not want this DS remake.

Yet they talk about how you must get on their website?  :?: :| :?:

Because they know readers want to see more of it, even if they don't want to.

It could also be due to the fact that all gaming magazines these days are hypocritical subscriber-whores.

They don't want the remake because they want a game with spiffy and pretty graphics instead of investing in the revival of a groundbreaking and innovative series that focuses on graduated storyline rather than instant gratification. Sure what I said may seem biased, but it is what it is.

It could also be different writing teams working on the magazine & the website, yeah?

Uh, um...were they written at the same time...? Maybe one was before information that it was actually just an enhanced port...? Why do I sound like I'm defending EGM...? >_>

He says he'd rather play the SNES version than a DS version for fear that lame ass sequels would follow.

FF VII Anyone?

Meh... that's confusing concept with execution; plus they tried incorporating the game(sequel-wise) into other genres(shooter, cinema, et al.) which ended up killing it.

Yeah, that doesn't even make sense...Since it ALREADY HAS TWO SEQUELS!...Wait, Jeremy Parish? He's the one that wrote the article I posted about in the General Discussion forum...

Chrono Trigger
Last seen: Chrono Cross - PS1 - 2000
Chrono Trigger remains one of the most beloved role-playing games ever created thanks to its innovative storytelling and streamlined gameplay. Its follow-up, Chrono Cross, was more like a side story than a sequel, focusing on new characters and a minor plot point from Trigger. And since then-nothing. Well, almost nothing: Rumors circulated of a Square-held trademark for a "Chrono Break," which ignited speculation (it's a break in time! Or maybe a brake, like on a car?) until the trademark lapsed. These days, all the company does with the series is quash fan efforts to remake the original-and if they're going to all that trouble, why not put some effort into a sequel, too?

WTF...? It says right there that he wants another sequel...>_>

Someone should write EGM a letter telling them that one of their writers is some kind of fucktard who doesn't know wtf it is he actually wants.

Uh, I just read the EGM article that mentioned the CTDS (it was Jeremy Parish & the head EGM guy Milky-something-or-other)...they both just seemed kind of on the fence about the whole thing, but both said that they'd both end up getting it anyways...Basically they were saying that they both didn't really mind that it was still 2D, but that they wished they weren't going to get shafted in the price for a fairly bare-bones port that had basically already come out before...and that SE hasn't been putting games up on Wii at all because they know they can just repackage them & resell them and we'll buy them again...>_>

One moderately good point they brought up was the fact that while sales of CT DS could make them consider a new Chrono game, it could just as likely (if not moreso) just make them pump out more of these straight/"enhanced" ports...I think that's worth noting because I hadn't thought of it that way...

The two are not mutually exclusive.
