CT DS BUZZ >>> [1] Chrono Trigger DS sold 170,000 copies on its first day of release in Japan (November 20), beating out Animal Crossing Wii and The Last Remnant. November 25 is the US release; let's see some sales figures! BUY BUY BUY!
[2] Square Enix's members section posted two short guides to the Arena of the Ages, one of which contains a limited chart of evolution paths. Find them
here and
here. In true lazy game marketing tradition, it doesn't seem like Square's ever going to put up features on the Lost Sanctum or Dimensional Vortex dungeons.
[3] Mitchr90 found this Chrono Trigger DS advertisement airing in Japan. It's really cute, showing the character sprites pop out of a Super Famicom and jump into the DS with a few very short scenes from the game. Watch it
here.
[4] To advertise Chrono Trigger DS, Square took out a TV spot and a few print ads featuring nothing but "Good Morning, Crono!" Humorously, this line was changed by Tom Slattery's new translation. Find a nice GMC! wallpaper by Square
here.
TRANSLATION >>> GlitterBerri has completed pages 3, 4, and 5 of the Chrono Trigger Talk Battle with Sakaguchi and Horii. Only two left! Once it's finished, we'll begin analysis and put the information on the Chrono Trigger Wikipedia article. Check out the next three pages (and find out who created Gato)
here!
OLD CT >>> [1] IGN's Readers' Top 100 Games of All Time debuted recently; Chrono Cross came in at #89, while Chrono Trigger came in at #2 (bested by Ocarina of Time). You can read the commentary for the respective games
here and
here.
[2] Videodoodler recently noticed that Yasunori Mitsuda's name was missing from the PlayStation Chrono Trigger's credits. Curious, he played through the Japanese version and found that Mitsuda's name was also missing there. For the record, his name has been reinstated in the Chrono Trigger DS credits. Still, why would it be removed for the PSX release? Bad blood over Mitsuda's decision to go freelance, or something else? Find Youtubes proving the absence of his name
here and
here. A note will be made in the encyclopedia's CT credits page.
[3] Some guy hacked a Chrono Trigger map and event scenario to propose to his girlfriend. Find the Youtube
here; the video will be backed up in the Compendium video archive. An IPS of the hack hasn't been released.
OFFICIAL ART >>> A fan named Magus ripped the art out of Square's flash files for Chrono Trigger DS. All of the original character art, scenes, and the art used for the soundtrack / Super Famicom version are represented in slightly higher quality. More importantly, these are the first scene images we have that include the full sketch (most have the corners cut). Check it out at
Official Art.
FAN MUSIC >>> [1] Wiesty has released the Chrono Trigger Original Sound Version Live!, a collection of 24 Chrono Trigger piano pieces. The project was a long time in the making, and is debuting despite a cataclysmic hard drive crash that destroyed a big chunk of finished material. Head over to
CTOSVLive.TK and grab it now!
FAN PROJECTS >>> [1] DRMProd has begun a new Chrono Trigger translation for Latin American Spansih. He'll be posting updates at
this blog. Good luck!
[2] Azala no longer has free time to work on Chrono Trigger: Azala Style, and the project forum has been moved to Mt. Woe.
FAN ART >>> Sooperkreep starts things off with fantastically awesome pieces for the CT team (minus Magus). Here you go! [

Isle of the Damned. Next is Merlandese, who submits a nice drawing of
Riddel. Deezer509 keeps it going with a coloration of line art by Ian-kun, found
here. Maggiekarp's also made three humorous takes on CT DS stuff, but
be warned of spoilers! Find them
here,

here. Last is Insane's
Magus Pacman.
