Wondering About A Couple Items
« on: December 03, 2008, 05:56:12 pm »
hey all, i'm new to the boards, but been playing Chrono Trigger since 1995 on the SNES, i've also been a watcher on the boards for updates for years, just never signed up.

i've already beaten the DS version and even got the new ending #13. i've completed the 3 Dimensional Vortex's and the 2 Lost Sanctums, i completed every mission and searched every part of all 5 of those dungeon areas by myself with no help, i even have my creature trained in the new section to the max.

but my problem is, i'm missing a couple items and enemies to max out the extras section, just wondering if anyone knows what they are and where to be found, they're listed below in what i think are the ones i'm missing and the ????? are in which i have no clue, reply if you know, reply back. also i'm sure it will help out the website in knowing where they are.  thanks.

these are the numbers they are in the extra's section that are listed by each one, these are the only ones that i'm missing. any clue what they are and where i can find? the ones i know that are listed below that aren't on my extras yet is cause i haven't started a new game + yet.

EDITED BY WHEN I GET THEM:

BEASTIARY

131 - Spekkio - Strongest

ITEM ENCYCLOPEDIA

105 - Bronze Fist (Ayla)

222 - Accessory - ?????
223 - Accessory - ?????
224 - Accessory - ?????

also i looked in other threads on here and someone mentioned these items, i did not find these if these at all anywhere and i completed every inch of all 5 new areas: EDIT: Found in Arena randomly

Nu Arcana - A scroll that sheds light on nu mysteries. (Sets enemy HP to 1)
Uranian Mirror - A mirror bearing the image of a light deity. (Counter rate: 25% for non-Light Symbol)
Pontic Mirror - A mirror bearing the image of a water deity.
Promethean Mirror - A mirror bearing the image of a fire deity.
Hadean Mirror - A mirror bearing the image of a shadow deity.
Aresian Mirror - A mirror bearing the image of a warrior deity.

EDIT:

finally got in the arena:
#225 - Promethean Mirror
#226 - Hadean Mirror
#227 - Aresian Mirror

For the Spekkio one, you have to reach LV 90 or so. As for #49, IDK. Magus in Antiquity is a battle to be avoided IMO b/c you miss out on the best characters in CT.

Magus > Crono or whoever the second-strongest is.

Pink Nu Spekkio only appears when you're level **, (99) so most people never see it, as that takes a LOT of grinding.

Ayla's Iron/Bronze Fists are also pretty uncommon, as you need to level Ayla to level 75+ or so. (I think) And yeah, Janus is just pure awesome. :D I never, ever fight him. (Besides the fact that it's canon he lives) #49, though... I dunno about that one.

As for the six accessories you're missing... I'd guess the mirrors? No clue how to get them though.

Crono(Luminaire)>Lucca(Flare)>Robo(Shock)>Magus(Dark Matter)

BronzeFist is lvl 96.

Those other items you list are unique items you get from the Monster Arena.

I don't know about the accessories, but #49 in the bestiary is Fallen + Soul. In the Northern Ruins (where you upgrade the Masamune) there are two battles with the Fallen and Soul enemies. Anyway, if you wait a bit, they will merge into one, creating #49. Also, you only have two chances to do this. After which, you have to do it in a New Game +, etc. Also, someone on the GameFAQs boards had a great idea for getting Magus and entry #195 at the same time. Because you have to be strong enough to beat Lavos, probably best on a New Game + game. Anyway, save right before you fight Magus, fight and defeat him and then go directly to Lavos via the bucket at the End of Time, defeat Lavos and then save after the credits. Make sure that you don't save between defeating Magus and beating the game. The reason being is that when you save after beating the game, it saves all your bestiary info, etc (i.e. you'll have entry #195) now, but it also takes you back to the actual point in the game you were at before fighting Magus. Thus, you can get him to join. I've heard it works, too, but haven't done it myself yet.

Luminaire - (Lv + Mag) × 20.5
Flare - (Lv + Mag) × 17.25
Shock - (Lv + Mag) × 16.5
Dark Matter - (Lv + Mag) × 15.5

Do the math.

True. And I do agree that Luminaire is the most pwning move around...once Crono's magic stat is maxed. But we all know how long that takes.

the highest tier battle i got up to was level 6 where you have to pay 10,000 and my monster has all 99 strength, defense, etc...
i'm guessing that where you get the rest of the 6 items, i saw it on another thread, just want to know if that's the highest Tier you get them from.

thanks hartleysan, the #049 spot is imbetween an enemy from the northern ruins and sunken desert, now i know.

just like you have to let the golden eaglet in entry #081 in the forest maze in prehistoric era counter attack and become the red eaglet for entry #082, easy to miss.

I'm trying this right now on my first play through so far I need to get some better equipment from the arena. Since the second stage of Lavos is right now beating me.

At the Hero's grave, I've heard that once you repair the building in 600AD and instead of immediately taking the treasure, go to 1000AD and you will get a more powerful version of the weapons you would get at 600AD. I've done this and I've got the same weapons/armor(whatever is supposed to be more powerful). It's my first run. So am I missing something? Or is that rumor simply false?

As for the side quest in getting the Rainbow Shell. I went in, then right after the entrance I end up in Azala's throne room. But where there should be eggs(treasure), they're already gone. I can totally see it happening that if you got them way back in 65000000BC, then they will be gone in 600AD. Would there be more powerful items here as well, had I waited to pick up the treasure until 600AD?

Well you should check out the seal chests in 600 AD first to be given the option of opening them or not. If you don't open them after given the option go to 1000 AD to get the upgraded version. The trick is to click on the sealed chests before you get them in 1000 AD and not open them in 600 AD till you got the upgraded ones. That is how it worked before so I'm not sure if it has changed.

Unfortunately I don't remember if they improve over time or not.

Assuming they're still there if you didn't pick them up in Prehistory, it's unlikely they would improve. The other items are upgraded as a result of the necklace's influence. Or the result of you choosing the "Leave (the item) alone" response to the prompt, depending on your outlook.

Yep this works I just beat Lavos myself after doing what was mentioned in the gamefaqs thread. I got the second ending and Magus second bestiary entry. I'm glad I got those two things out of the way now.
