I have from the begain voiced my dislike Of Shadows behavior, but have also agreed that we shouldn't provoke him. But for the past week ever new post is or a response too him(save the FF7 hack thread). He reminds me of Sora "Twilight Skies" Onimaru, he was just like this even when ignored or "feed" finialy everyone Z, V, Lord J finial told him off and he changed to a fine member who put that zeal in to a productive method.

There is no anger Hyper just a desire to limit the spam here.

lol at HyperNerd's Anger management thread.

Shadow doesn't bother me at all. It takes a lot to irritate me with spamming or pointless posts. I've even stuck up for him on numerous occassions when I thought he was being unfairly insulted. But I'm just like that I guess. His posts and the anger that they bring up by other people here is really quite entertaining to me actually.

That said, I can understand the desire of many members here to want to limit spam and/or ginormous fucking images in threads. And Shadow, no offense man, but I've told you several times that if you stopped doing that completely, many people wouldn't have much of a problem with you. The fact that you continue doing it suggests that you want to provoke this response, or that you just don't give a shit.

But I have a very hard time believing that you just don't give a shit, as you truly enjoy posting here. Just don't do it, and things will be fine for you, it's as easy as that.

Go spam 4chan, not here.

Don't like it there. Besides, Anon's been on my list since they raided a friend of mine a few months back.

Well, if 4chan isn't your thing, go spam Gaia. You'll fit right in.

Nah, I agree with the haters on that.

In any case, drop it.

Agreed, everyone should do just that.

It was just a dusting, but there was a bit more snow here today. Very frustrating; I need to be able to use my car. Hopefully the roads will be clear enough that I can drive before the 31st.

We didn't get any snow down here. Which sucks a little bit I guess.

Earlier today it was 80 degrees outside. Right now it is past midnight and it is 73 degrees outside.

In Seattle we got a cumulative foot-plus of snow over about ten days. It was snowing as recently as yesterday afternoon, but now the temperatures are too warm and it's all melting away in the rain.

The entire region was paralyzed for a while. The Puget Sound area so rarely gets significant amounts of snow, and when it does it usually melts in the next couple of days. This time was exceptional because an arctic air mass sent temperatures down twenty degrees below normal, causing the snow to stick around the whole time. The cities and counties do not have funding or equipment to handle these once-in-a-generation events. Add to this a hilly terrain and a lack of experience driving in wintry conditions on the part of many area drivers, and the results are debilitating. This has caused much outrage among some people who apparently are incapable of slowing down and enjoying life for a few days.

Me? I made snow ice cream. =)

Bottom line: Snow is awesome.

How is it on your side, J? It's mostly cleared up on the Eastside; I should be able to hit the road pretty freely now.

Yay for seattle finally clearing up!  I'm flying back on the 4th of january.  I'm really counting on there not being another huge storm and the public busses be running fully..otherwise I'll be hanging out at SeaTac for awhile.....

A decimeter (10 cm) is analogous to using a foot (12 inches). I prefer the metric system because it is much more practical (and I was trained to use it without question so I guess I'm partly biased/brainwashed).

Just the other day I was trying to cook (horribly) and it said to use a cup or whatever. I was like "how many mls are in a cup?" (I don't have a measuring cup) so I had to look it up. I found out it was like 254 mls, which is about 1/4 liter. So I could measure it out by eye alone.

The only thing I still prefer non-metric is distance. For some reason I have a very hard time judging distance in my head in kilometers.

Who knows? A metric system of factors of ten is the exact same thing as what you are confused about anyways. Why ten? Because ten makes sense. Why does ten make sense? Because it feels good to use, we're comfortable with it. Why are we comfortable with it? Probably because we have ten fingers and ten toes. It seems right to use ten. It gives nice round numbers.

But realistically, as a system of measurement, you could use a factor of anything. It doesn't matter because absolute distance is a contrived human concept.

So I figure, why not use that which makes the most sense? - the metric system.

Fathoms and leagues and feet and miles and grains were all of practical use before the advent of modern measuring devices. But now that such things exist, let's just change. All the rest of the world has, so why are Americans so damned stubborn?

I'd guess it's BECUZ WE DUN LIEK CHANGE. AMERICUH. FUCK YEAH!

Having grown up in the US and now living in Canada, I am becoming familiar with both the imperial and the metric systems, mainly because I help convert imperial cooking receipes for my wife and other random things.  How many grams in a pound? 454! (learned from block of butter)  How many litres in a gallon?  3.8! (learned from the top of a urinal).  What is a quart? 1/4 of a gallon so about a litre or 1000 ml!

Between the two, I prefer the metric system.  It is just plain simpler to figure things out and remember.  I never commited the imperial system to memory, except when tested on it back in grade school.  5280 ft...bollocks to that.  Anything divisible by 10 is quick and painless.  Also allows for a quick mental calc for a 15 or 20% tip when dining out.  Just take 10% and either add one half of that amount or double it and you've got a proper tip.

I also grew up near the Canada-US border and most, if not all items had both imperial and metric units on the label...not sure if it is like that elsewhere in the States.
