Hmm... we shall see.

Been bested by my fabled bombast, have you?

I will crush you as this orange.

Again, we shall see. Should it suit Heaven to bring me into communication with the one with whom he has been bonded, I will see to it he visits you. However, I can only promise that while you two may end up in the same room together, you will most likely not meet unless Heaven also sees fit to give you a dream to dream that night.

Heh, well, I have stronger things guarding me, I'm sure.

I wouldn't underestimate him.

Uh, you didn't get what I was doing, did you?

What was there to not get? Unless you were jesting, and if you were, that is not good.

Well, I have nothing to fear at any rate.

Nope, you didn't get me, not in the least. But of course I was joking! Having a pissing contest with Greek myths? Writing in faux epic style, what do you expect? Man, you've gotta learn when someone is joking. Throwing out mythical allusions like that, that sort of pendantic speech... heck, it's my high dramatic style. What, you think I was SERIOUS referring to the Iliad, referring to the Greek gods? Nah, man, that's been done a thousand times before by the poets, and I'm just following a really, really old tradition. In truth I was testing out my storytelling mode. I've not written anything literary in a while, so I was putting it to the test, seeing if I could. Heh. Yeah, man, just relax. Banter is entertaining, and that's what I was doing.

O.O

Oh, shit.

Heh, what? I know, I know, I'm a strange character. Don't ever take me too seriously. I mean, I act serious, I am serious, but I know when to laugh at myself. In part, I'm making fun of my serious nature in talking like that.

Oh, and what's the translation on those versions, HyperNerd?

I have a surfeit of intensity. Sorry if it offended you. But I revel in writing in that manner, even to myself. I am a poet, and my diction is at best nearly poetic. More than this, I do have a great love of Greek myth, and as the Humanists of days past, throw much thought through that antique filter.

Hmm... first year Latin... like I said, I have an affinity for Wheelock, as that's where I learned things from. But these days, it's better to not have a textbook, per say, but a good Grammar and Dictionary. I've done quite a bit with that. I've even managed to write some Latin love elegies which, I think, turned out well.

Yeah, Jenney is an okay book. It doesn't focus too much on memorization and has a lot of transliteration/translation/whatever. It has a dictionary on all the words it uses and focuses on the grammar. I love Jenney...

... hey, Shad? When you post, can you try and make your posts mean something? Please?

Aw, no worries man. I'm not annoyed at you or anything. It takes a lot to get me really, seriously, annoyed, and even then, I get over things very quickly. I know it can be rather difficult to tell with me if I'm joking or not sometimes.

And teaflower, yeah, that's the way I like those books. Wheelock has a lot of translation, too. I learned my Greek in the same way. Lots of translation.

And I do think, for the most, Shadow's posts make sense. It does mean something. I might not be entirely sure, but I have a pretty good idea.

Uh...
The Samuel Butler translation.

Hmm... not too familiar with it. Looking it up it's not too bad, but it's not quite Lattimore's in my opinion.
