I think your first part is wrong, teaflower. Hollywood licenses Japanese stuff all the time. Just look at all the Japanese horror movies Hollywood routinely butchers.

Again, I'm feeling kind of crazy right now. But I still think it's a clever scheme. My money says that we will soon learn that the project was canceled.

... that's just wrong...

Well that's certainly plausible...Projects that are still in the script stage are barely projects at all, really...

Well I've heard whispers of the project for two or three years now, actually.  And it was about a year ago Keanu Reeves was associated with the concept, but that article is the first time that he personally voiced and interest in the project.  No telling how far along the development is.  The same thing with the Dragonball film.  Everyone thought it was never going to happen until all the sudden they announce that the movie exists, and that Goku and Picollo had already been cast.  It came out of the blue, pretty much.

Then again, the Bebop movie may never go anywhere.  It may be just another "Halo" movie.

I just shed a tear.  First Keanu rapes 50 sci-fi classics, now he's raping great anime?

Thanks for sodomizing me in the childhood there.

I don't think you guys were here when all the Dragonball buzz began... but I'm actually excited and looking forward to Dragonball.  I don't think it will be great, but I think it will be fun and entertaining.

I think it'll be one of those things people will want to see because it'll be one of the worst things ever. It's good to experience horribleness when it reaches a certain height.

I know I am seeing it, both Dragonball and Cowboy Bebop. Just like the X-men movies, Transformers, etc. I going so I can be entertained not enthralled in a motion picture masterpiece.

Even the most succesful comic book films totally butcher the source material. That's ok. They're seperate entities. A horrible Keanu Reeves live action Cowboy Bebop film won't do anything to sully your enjoyment of the anime.

I think that since they're using the license they should at least remain true to the spirit of the characters, if not storylines & such (which are normally next to impossible because they're just different media)...which is why the last X-Men movie was udder (moo cow) fail while the last Batman movie was epic win.

They didn't keep true to Joker's story in Dark Knight, well thats not a great example but still. Transformers should have stayed true though. It made a giant plot hole. I did not like X-2 or X-3. WTF you can't kill Cyclopes!

The problem with movies based on animes are that they can't be integrated with the story and action we all love. Movies are at most 2 hours long. Think about the great animes. Could you portray something like Bebop, FMA, or Gundam Wing in two hours? No. Even anime movies are bad because they are too short. Now if they were to capture our attention with two hours and have us demand more they could make it a trilogy or something.

Aye, I think many of us have looked at the superhero movies rather terribly--they're separate entities, separate stories, and new material. Now, don't get me wrong, some superhero movies were just terrible as movies--it had nothing to do with the fact that it was a superhero movie. Look at the third X-Men movie, or the third Spider-Man movie--they were terrible movies and extremely terrible attempts at comic-book adaptations.

I don't know how Bebop will go...the Dragonball movie looks ridiculous, but it might be halfway decent. The Speed Racer movie, now that was terrible.
