I love they sped up the 5 months or something that it took him to figure out what hurts Venom into like 3 seconds. And got rid of the most recurring villains of the series.

They didn't keep true to Joker's story in Dark Knight, well thats not a great example but still. Transformers should have stayed true though. It made a giant plot hole. I did not like X-2 or X-3. WTF you can't kill Cyclopes!

In the comics the Joker didn't have a solid origin for hella so idk what TDK messed up...And Wolverine vs Yuriko fight in X2 was the best part of the entire movie series.

Cyclops was killed so the actor could go work on a side-role in Superman Returns, at least that's what I heard...

And the Joker's back story isn't perfectly clear cut, but if you're talking about the fact that he's wearing makeup and isn't scarred by the vat of acid, or whatever, then, yeah, they didn't keep true to his story. Hell, they changed the way Two-Face was created too, but I think they did it realistically...so it wasn't bad in my book.

I never cared for 2face. He annoyed me. They made him better, but I wanted them to make Joker more crazy. Maybe have him tell his past multiple ways, and "The Joker don't need no stinkin makeup!" but his plans were very good and seemed like classic Joker to me. I know they want to replace Heath Ledger, but I hope it's with someone good and has a great Joker laugh. Also I hope they bring Harley into the mix, the way he uses her is awesome.

They had him tell different origins though...& I thought that when he was plainfaced that that was makeup which is why it still ended up looking unnatural...Am I remembering wrong? Doesn't he have his usual white face & junk when he's in the police station? Did the cops allow him to put makeup back on? >_>

Well, during the scene where Gordon "gets killed", he had no makeup on...so I guess that's why it looks like he put his makeup back on. Or not, I don't really know.

In the movie he wears makeup as part the story. At the Station he is beaten and most of it is off, he only had some around the lips and his hair was losing it's green. And he only tells one story to Rachel during the party, he never mentions his past ever again. Thus his not-so-catch phrase, "Why so serious?"

Uh, didn't he tell a completely different story to the black guy though? And I thought he was wearing flesh-toned makeup during that scene mav was talking about...then he gets taken to the precinct and gets beaten so the flesh-toned makeup starts to wear off...

That's the thing: the Joker was a compulsive liar.  His whole personality was a facade - it was all an act.

Aye, he claims that his scarring came from an abusive father (who used the phrases "Why so serious" and "Let's put a smile on that face") and he tells Rachel that it was to amuse his wife, or something along those lines.

Like Boo said, it's an act--we're not supposed to know why he's so fucked up.

I don't remember that. And I'm pretty sure Rachel was just tying to witty and show him she wasn't scared.

That's what I thought, but apparently it is white makeup and real face, at least my friends told me I was wrong and he actually is wearing white makeup not skin make up. Although my friends could just be huge idiots. He's not a compulsive liar though, he's just F'd up. I don't think he ever tells another story in the movie. I may need to watch it again.

Here's what he says to Rachel:
So I had a wife, beautiful, like you, who tells me I worry too much. Who tells me I ought to smile more. Who gambles and gets in deep with the sharks... Look at me! One day, they carve her face. And we have no money for surgeries. She can't take it. I just want to see her smile again, hm? I just want her to know that I don't care about the scars. So... I stick a razor in my mouth and do this...
[the Joker mimics slicing his mouth open with his tongue]

I'll have to watch it again, to catch the whole makeup thing though.

Yeah but did he ever say his dad cut his mouth? I think that he only said his dad cut his mom.

Wanna know how I got these scars? My father was... a drinker. And a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. Turns to me and he says "Why so serious?" Comes at me with the knife,"Why so serious?" He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let’s put a smile on that face!" And... Why so serious?

Yeah, I just saw that. Ok, maybe that was skin makeup then. I need to watch that movie again, partly because it was awesome and partly because I need to see i your right. But I did not think Heath Ledger had the right voice for the Joker.
