One of the only RPG clichés left out of the Chrono series is a ninja.
Princess needs rescuing - Check
Mystical sword - Check
Quest to save the world - Check
Kings = Oblivious - Check
Flying transport obtained late in the game opening up all final areas of exploration - Check
Main final dungeon = flying fortress - Check
Advisors to the King are always up to no good - Check
One character is a kleptomaniac/gambler/womanizer/drunk - No

Whoo!  Found another one Trigger didn't have!
There are plenty of drunk NPCs, like the carpenter you borrow tools from. There's also Crono and Ayla during their prehistoric party.

But they are missing a main character amnesiac who gets his memories back in some super plot twist!
The frog didn't turn into a prince when kissed, either.

I also said Chrono series...if you get into RD & CC you've got a couple kleptos to choose from (Kid & Mel...Fargo to a lesser extent)...as well as a gambler (definitely Fargo)...and some other drunks (Sneff & even Doc a bit, I think...)...

What about RD? I'd say Magus(or should I say Magil?) was like a pseudo-ninja.. He often hid in the shadows and only struck in surprise and wears a mask.  :)

And in CC?

Princess needs saving - Check(sorta), but she is actually a daughter-clone and has an attitude. Other female characters in the party roster would better fit the description of a princess.
Mystical Sword - There's two! Isn't that taboo??
Quest to save the world - More or less.
Kings = Oblivious - Eh, Viper wasn't oblivious and he joins your party! :) He was more a self-proclaimed king though.
Flying transport obtained late in the game opening up all final areas of exploration - I wish, but we'll have to settle for 'floating' transportation.
Advisors to the King are always up to no good - That Lynx, always up to no good.
One character is a kleptomaniac/gambler/womanizer/drunk - Not enough. But was there even a womanizer?

So I guess if some people will say that CC isn't a true sequel to CT, they will have a valid argument. There are kleptomaniac/gambler/womanizer/drunk(s), and that is taboo in CT.

Technically there's three mystical swords in CC since there are two Einlanzers and then the Masamune...The saving the world (/all of existence) part is kind of secondary...when Starky modifies your boat, making it fly, it allows you to gain access to the final dungeon...I'm sure if they had developed him more Radius would have been a womanizer since he's an old man...

lmao Radius a womanizer I can totally see that... how old is he anyway in the game? Like 50? 60?

It's a scientific fact that all old men in Japanese culture are perverted womanizers.

Princess needs saving - Check(sorta), but she is actually a daughter-clone and has an attitude. Other female characters in the party roster would better fit the description of a princess.
Riddel fills that role nicely.  Though not a princess in title, she still the daughter of the region's leader.
