Hey, if another Chrono-game is made, they should just use his art style.  Or a completely new artist.  Just as long as it's not Toriyama, I can't take his style anymore.  The generic anime-style that's used so often these days would also be a tragedy- see Castlevania, Phantasy Star 0, Rune Factory.  Castlevania had such a nice art style from Symphony of the Night until Aria of Sorrow/Curse of Darkness- though I suppose the return to the anime-style is somewhat nostalgic as it was used in Rondo of Blood.  Phanasy Star 0's anime-look is a bit less forgivable when one remembers the unique flair of Phantasy Star Online...

But I digress.

Actually 怪獸 is a Chinese word. It says 怪獣男, and yes, it would be like "Monster man", but I translated it that way because you would not understand that it refers to the old man. The "Monster" like character is robo, It reads "Brake Robo" in the sketch.

Also, any idea of when we might have the scans uploaded? How many pages does the book have?

Do the pages mention the sage guy in-depth at all? It looks like he was likely the 8th character, so I'm kind of intrigued by him...

It is interesting, though. Can't wait until we get to the juicer bits.

YYYYYEEESSS, Kato did the art, and huge thanks to Shikigami for such a quick translation! I think this confirms that Masato Kato definitely worked on the Ninja Gaiden NES series as "Runmal." Ah, Kato, my entire childhood under your videogame tutelage...

Seriously. After Mario, I went straight into Ninja Gaiden, then Chrono Trigger, then FF7, then Xenogears, then Chrono Cross. And he was involved in all of those projects. Oh, except Mario.

As for a potential release of the scans, keep in mind that these are copyrighted images, and to scan the entire book and just release it would deprive Square Enix of some amount of Chrono revenue. What we'll probably do is make "scanlations" like what Shikigami did and release only translated images that contain new storyline information publicly. There's no way we'll get every single page of this baby scanned, and certainly no way we'll get it all translated.

Of course, this is all subject to how ZeaLitY wants to handle it, but this is what I predict will happen.
