what's up with that snot bubble?
« on: February 13, 2009, 04:59:06 pm »
every time i've ever played ct, i've seen gaspar and that little bubble, which i had alway thought was a speech bubble that was silent, indicating he was sleeping. and correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought it popped when you talked to him, which i thought was him waking up.

as he's an old man stuck by himself with limitless time and seeming immortality, he's gonna take a lot of naps i guess. since third grade this explanation has made sense to me.

now i'm seeing that it's widely believed to be a snot bubble? gaspar was old, i didn't think he was that old.

so what's up with the bubble?

As Sigmund Freud once alluded to: some things simply ARE what they appear.

meaning, very simply, that perhaps it IS just a snot bubble.

According to current GameFAQs theory, Taban is the true antagonist of Chrono Trigger. Little do they know, it's actually Gaspar's snot bubble. Whatever you do, don't let them in on it.

Actually, there may be something culturally significant about snot bubbles in Japan. They seem to appear in many a manga, and may take the place of the American "zzz".

Question, then. What roles do Lavos and Queen Zeal fill? ;)

Yeah, much like the tear/sweat drop, it's just a commonly used symbol in Japanese manga & anime.

lol. The king is Crono's father. seems he got drunk at a get-together one night and ran into Crono's mother and well... one thing lead to another. 9 months downt he road, out comes little Crono!  Makes the whole thing between him and Princess Nadia really strange, though...

btw, this is a joke. I don't actually believe this.

It's a Japanese representation of snoring heavily.

In Super Mario 64 if you leave him alone Mario will form a bubble while he sleeps.   Unfortuantly it does not pop.
