I'd be more inclined to believe that Amnesiac Magus becomes Magil from the Radical Dreamers timeline, which shouldn't exist anymore if not for Kid referring to Magil and Serge as her former mates. lol Confusing >_<

Edit: Scratch that. Kid is from Another World, if Radical Dreamers happens in Another World's timeline before she comes to the El Nido Archipelago, they might not exist in Home World's timeline, but why she doesn't remember the events of the game doesn't make any sense either. x.x

It was mentioned by both Eclipse Magus and someone in Chronopolis that there are many more dimensions than just Home and Another Worlds. Radical Dreamers happened in one of these different dimensions. Since the Kid in Cross is from Another World, she wouldn't remember the events of RD, but she might remember meeting someone named Magil and a different Serge.
The Magil is RD definitely remembers the evens of CT. Maybe in that dimension he never found the Dream Devourer, and never lost his memories.

There was no Dream Devourer in Radical Dreamers, it is a completely separate universe from Cross and the added content of CTDS.

When does Kid say Magil and Serge are her former mates? In Radical Dreamers or CC?

Nowhere as far as I know.

In CC the only mention of them (RD's Serge and Magil) is in a Chronopolis computer. And in RD itself there is no case where Kid would say that.

In regards to linking... this is all I can contribute...

Quote from: CTDS Eclipse Magus DD ending
Magus: What is this place?

Magus: Ugh…

Magus: Who…who am I? What's happened? I…I don't remember anything. There was
something…something I needed to do. Something I needed to…to find.

Magus: I must find a way to remember. I will.
Quote from: Guile speaking to the Frozen Flame near the end of CC
Guile:
   Is this what I have
   been searching for
   all this time...
   No...
   Stop it!
   I am no such thing.
   What good is it...
   to possess such
   dark power...?

This seems to connect nicely with that new DS ending. Eclipse Magus may very well be Guile in CC.

Wait...

Magus mentions something to find, and considering what Guile says (and going for Magus = Guile) it seems as if he was being reminded of who he was before.

But then considering what could Magus be looking for... I don't think it matches.

Unless remembering who he is is the first step to know what he has been looking for, of course.

this looks pretty damn solid to me. that's my two cents.

That's a pretty substantial link, Magus22, and hopefully there are more quotes in CC that can make all this a little clearer. But my only worry is that Guile's lines may be inconsistent with the Magus is Guile theory, due to the fact that Guile may have written as a completely different character, and CTDS only created that theory after CC came out. Thus every quote or line we use from CC may have been written for someone other than Magus...But if the character was written as an amnesiac Magus, then it certainly still fits.

Wait...

I definitely agree with that last statement--if figuring out who he is is part of the puzzle, then Guile just found a crucial piece. But do we know what he's searching for? He says something, which makes it sound like an object, but don't most of us believe he's searching for Schala?

We believe he's searching for Schala.

But we don't know.

Also, Schala may just be a symbol of a different life for him. The thing he may be looking for is simply his past. Including Schala and Zeal and maybe even Alfador and the Gurus. It may be his humanity. The distinction between a thing and a person isn't too big to say they're not connected.

The CC artbook containing the drawings of "Arf" who was intended to be Magus, basically kept the face/mask and attire within similar parameters and renamed him to Guile. However, has Guile's movement been debated? His right leg is dominant when he hovers (it lifts first). Though it proves nothing, no one else in CC hovers except Ozzie, Flea, and Slash - who are mystics from 600 A.D. - hence Magus too.

What about it? It's something that remained unchanged during the process of Magus to Guile during development.

Now certainly this rises the question of how did Guile got such ability in-game. For him to be amnesiac Magus, it fits. But in the case he is not...

If he is amnesiac Magus, shouldn't he have forgotten how to fly? Unless it comes naturally. Maybe he figured it out accidentally, he acted out of instinct, or he just remembered for no reason. That would be pretty inconvenient to suddenly remember spells while in the middle of something else. Imagine he was combing his hair, when all of a sudden fire bursts from his hands! Guile learned Fire 2!

Well, certainly his reputation of being the rising star of the magic guild must have come from something, and that something being the forgotten spells coming back to him. Although... I'm sure the spells don't come back that way. Maybe while trying some simple one a more advanced one comes instead of it.

Though why I am coming with this? I'm suppose to be against the theory.

But this just begs the question, what exactly is the Magic Guild? Is it some sort of school for up and coming magicians, or just a club for magicians to keep in touch and share their secrets? Is Guile the rising star because he got good grades in classes, or did he perform and document amazing feats of magic that others could not perform?
Lots of really interesting story opportunities around this guy's origin, and the Guild..
