We're getting into more recent games. Here is where I agree with V.
Older games there's a little more sense.
But new stuff is never properly judged.
Proof?
Today GTA Vice City and Kingdom Hearts are wiping the floor with Metroid prime. THE FIRST ONE.
Way I see these contests, they're good for a bit but eventually hit a point where they hit rock bottom.
Today is where it starts for me. I may check it out again, but only for games I really think deserve more credit. Namely CT. it has a lot, but if it took 2nd place last time only getting beat by FF7, it's not enough. Ocarina of Time? I'll accept it. Certain games, fine general public say they're better and in many aspects they are so I'm okay with them getting higher rated than CT. But FF7 is certainly NOT one of those.

LittleBigPlanet and Left 4 Dead will also probably be underrated. Portal I'm not sure(love the end theme).

As for this other topic that's been brought up, characters really do make the game but I also think the story does it as well. That's what won a golden spot for CC with me. Harle and gameplay seriously helped too though.

Well, Nikki does react if you have him in your party involving scenes with Fargo or Marcy- and he has the important Marbule scene.  And Norris reacts very calmly and collectedly when he meets his doppelgänger because that's part of his personality... but by having Serge silent, I feel the creators wanted to leave place for the player to feel and express his surprise and astonishment, without a whining, screaming protagonist to get in the way...

This poll fails. Final Fantasy VIII 41.28% over both Xenogears and Starcraft. Really?

Unfortunately, Final Fantasy VIII is just that popular by comparison. (For the record, I don't hate the game; I just happen to think Xenogears is the best game I've ever played, is all.)

GameFAQs successfully documents the masses when it comes to contests, so it's actually a successful enough representation. About as successful as you can get on the internet, anyway. The thing is, and video game companies know this, too -- certain games have very, very rabid, passionate fanbases. Xenogears and Starcraft are two strong examples. I think it's safe to say a Xenogears remake or in more literal speaking Starcraft 2 would/will sell quite well, because both groups are certainly as hell going to buy.

Man, Phoenix is in fourth.  That's like one of my favorite games next to Chrono.  Dang Zelda and FF.

Fallout 3
Halo 3
Left 4 Dead
Mass Effect

That's an extremely bad place to start in the bracket. I could justify voting for all four of those games.

Next time CT comes around, it's gonna need all the help it can get.  I'm gonna be surprised if it gets through it's next round.

Yeah, toughest so far, yet not the toughest of the whole thing.

Yet if it manages to pass, well, depends on which ones do so too.

I think if we make it past Super Mario 64 and Golden Eye, we'll have passed the biggest Mile stone (Excluding FF7 and OoT of course).  But, I think we'll lose some votes to FF7, them both being Square games, and we didn't even beat SM64 WITHOUT that handicap....  Oh well, I'm voting for CT anyhow ;)

if golden eye and sm64 are placed in the same competition as CT, I think that the N64 fans are going to be even split between golden eye and SM64, giving us a chance to break it.

true true...  Goldeneye is probably the best first person shooter on the 64.  While SM64 is probably one of the best platformers of all time...  It'll be a close one me thinks.

Also, Fausty, is that update gonna be here soon?  I'm a very impatient guy xD
