Dude, I'm sorry, but wether global warming is real or not it's a natural weather pattern of the earth. It happens. Yes, we should be more selfconcious about adout the ecosystem and help out making things better. But no, we shouldn't focuse our lives around it. Every living thing on the earth adapts, including the earth itself. We may not know what's coming for our earth's future, but I'm pretty sure we're not going to get vaporised by UV rays. Soon enough, a new wether pattern will come up and we'll deal with other problems. But for all those that are worried about global warming, in the meantime suck it up and get on with your life.

I was very clearly being sarcastic, Asafigow. In fact I can't even imagine that that could be taken in any way other than a sarcastic joke. Chill out and learn to pick up on cues when you read.

Yeah, I know it was a joke. I just quoted you so that if anyone else posted before me(which they did) we could stay on that subject. It was more or less directed towards people who think global warming will end the world if we don't set are selfs on it.

Hmmm...The only thing I did for Earth Day was listen to The End (local radio station that's pretty good & you can stream it too & junk) when they did a special 4 hour-long block of Green Day stuff (including acoustic tunes, interviews & what-not). Aren't they clever?

Nothing.  I hope the Earth doesn't hold it against me.

Seriously though, Earth Day is stupid.  Either work for a cleaner, healthier environment or don't.  Taking one day out of the year to recognize being kinder and gentler to our planet basically labels the 364 other days as less important.  Plant trees whenever you want, recycle when you want, save energy when you can.  Those goals should be prevalent every day, not just one.

Also relating to the subject, pollution won't destroy the planet, and eco-nazis who've successfully led 1 out of 3 children to believe the Earth won't be around when they grow up should be beaten with a stupid stick.  Our ecosystem isn't immortal, but it's also not weak.  The planet has survived meteors, ice ages, ages with no icecaps at all, and other things that the greenest of green thumbs think would be absolutely catastrophic today.  It wouldn't be nice, it wouldn't be fun, and many animals and people would undoubtedly be pressed so hard that mass migration, adaptation or even death would result, but the planet would go on.

So my motto, do what's best for humanity and care for the world as best we can, while being realistic.

No biggie though, E.D. is E.D. no matter how you look at it.

You know, they make Viagra and Cialis for that, right?

I get Amish grown stuff regularly, and have since before organic became chic. I do it because it's cheaper. Same with anything I do that happens to be "eco-friendly". The whole green movement really annoys the p*ss outa me to be honest about it. As a society, we're a lot better about pollution and such than we were 30-50 years ago, and it shows in that it doesn't hurt to breathe in downtown LA at noon on a hot summer day. We need to watch that we don't get there again, but most of the stuff now is just certain people trying to control average citizens more than they should be able to.

Yeah, the joke works a bit better with Valentine's Day. Happy V.D.! Get yourself checked.

BTW Amish chocolate is the best I may have ever tried. I don't know what I was expecting when I tried it the first time, but I wasn't expecting the most awesome delicious manmade tasty treat ever to grace my tongue! That shit is fantastic.

However, what is far far better (and often cheaper) than standard produce (organic or otherwise) is locally-grown produce.

Which is why I said organic and/or local...and which is why starting in May the local farmers market starts up and there is a farm that is local AND organic and it will be glorious!  Cheap too.

It is a tough call sometimes.  We don't always pick one over the other.  Organic X from China vs. local X?...local wins but not always..  Organic X from US/Canada vs local?....organic wins but not always.  Sometimes neither win and we skip it.

Everything I listed is for my wife and I's long-term health more than it is to save the Earth, though I suppose it is a sideeffect.

Although I will admittedly leave my air conditioning on all day in my apartment even when I'm not there because I can't stand coming home to a burning hot apartment in the Texas heat.

That may or may not be wasteful, depending. Supposedly it takes more energy to cool a place from 98 to 79 in a reasonablly short span of time than it would to keep it at 79 for a few hours. Where the break even point is, however, I don't know.

Agreed.

The planet has survived. Life has survived. What happened to the dominant species on the earth during those catastrophes. Even with the worst case climate change scenarios, life on earth very likely wouldn't end. As for human life though...well, lets hope it doesn't come to that, and take steps to that end.

Most sentiments about Earth Day are stupid. There's no reason to save the planet. The planet will survive w/e piss-ant little thing we do to it. It's the PEOPLE who're fucked. Not to mention doing one thing on one day isn't going to help anything. If you want to help, do it, don't do one little thing on one preordained day and expect that to save anything.

Eh, I used the material I had available...

I've never had Amish chocolate. The ones near me don't make it. Chicken, beef, turkey, vegetables, pies, half moon pies, etc., though, all marvelous.
