When I try to imagine Magus singing try as I might I just can't get David Bowie in Labyrinth out of my head.     I know that that example is pretty horrible but that's about the range of voice (in terms of pitch) I imagine him having, that and I'm thinking of Jeremy Irons, voice of Scar from the Lion King.

Ideally less cliche lyrics, but that's the kind of voice I imagine for Magus.

Magus and Frog definitely need a duet.

It would seem the general consensus is CT (sorry, Serge), Musical, and multiman crew. Awesome.

The whole close proximity thing... that'll be tough. I mean, we meet through the internet. There are MILLIONS of people on the internet, and millions of places to be. The best way I can see this happening is through the actual forum. It's a common meeting ground and people can have all sorts of interest in it. Another way is through instant messaging programs, like AIM, MSN, IRC, and things of the like.

Now here's the next batch of questions for you.

1. How likely do we think we will get this project up and running? This could very well be a very bad idea and we could be trying fruitlessly for years and years, ultimately scrapping it after many many cast changes. Or, it could flourish into something amazing, like Crimson Echoes has.
2. Who's doing what? Who will write the play, who will write the music, who will write the lyrics?
2a. Will we have multiple people doing one job (breaking the play down into parts) or will it be one person does one job?
3. How will the playwright(s), lyricist(s), and musician(s) convene? Will we do it in this topic? Will we ask for a subforum?
3a. If we ask for a subforum, will we ask it to be a ninja forum like CE is? Or will it be one of them public ones, where people can drop in and give suggestions?

EDIT: I just thought of something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaWB-0VkTXs&feature=related This would fit in beautifully! We'd need to get the permission from the original dude, but... this would be an amazing piece to fit in somewhere.

Scar (and Lion King) was the first thought that came into my head. It's kind of cheesy to picture a villain like Magus singing, but that's part of the fun with musicals, right?

1. It'll take time, things will be criticized, items will be dropped. If you endure, you'll end up with something worth sharing.
2. It sounds like you're taking volunteers, so I guess you're gonna have to wait for people to raise their hands.
2a. Depends on who's willing to do what, but I would suggest keeping the idea of working multiple jobs on the table.
3. You need a subforum.
3a. Do you want a lot of input and feedback, and possible volunteers? If so, keep it open and public. Maybe start out open and make it invisible once things start rolling.

My opinion on the subforum:
Readable by public but not postable in unless you are a "member" of it... I'm sure theres a way to do this.
Why is this? SO that we don't have people not in it cluttering our topics... they can submit ideas and such through PM.
And if they have good ideas, and seem like they are contributing more than just a phrase or two, they could be allowed into the project.
make sense?

And tea, that is a wonderful song but... unless we wish to make this a much-less-serious play or an absolute parody... which might not be too bad... then I don't exactly see it happening V.V

Magus and Frog definitely need a duet.

A Magus and Frog duet, the question is when? Before they fight in Magus's castle or before they fight at the cape? After Magus Joins? It can't just happen! (Although it should happen)

Oh we could keep the fight at the cape, but make it so in the end Frog doesn't kill Magus. (it's been going through my mind, what to keep, what to alter, and what to get rid of)

3: I'll help write lyrics (or at leats come up for ideas for songs) I'm good at getting the emotion, but the lyrics come out...well... anyway.

and like mentioned, awesome song but not really sensible unless your going for full on parody. (I think a good play combines comedy and drama just right)

It was in a different thread...the motivationals one I think.  Someone said they though of Magus singing as the singer for Type O Negative.  "Love You To Death" being their biggest hit.  I concurred with that sentiment.  Check it if you want an idear.

I can see a Frog/Magus hate duet... it would be one of those duet things where 2 people are thinking about eachother from another place, and sing in harmony and such?

...and if we do a full on parody, I can also see a Frog/Magus love/crush duet ^.^ hahaha

I could totally see a "hate duet" thing going on between them--very emotional, yet they somehow manage to harmonize. And Serge's idea for the subforum is pretty good: open to public, sans the cluttered mess that the masses may make. And maybe that way people interested but new to the forum could still see the idea and then PM you guys to volunteer later, or something.

Except Magus thinking about Frog is alittle out of character doncha think? Unless it's a parody in which case he has a Frog fetish and fell in love at first site (thus gave his crush a more fitting form to be with him in.) Geez let's go all out and make Magus camp! (kiddin') I can buy Frog bein' gay though ^.^

Frog: I'm into brave knights and long blue haired, pale, evil overlord types.

That's basically what I was thinking involved in it would be a moment wherein Magus is lamenting the loss of his sister Schala and Frog is lamenting the loss of his "brother" Cyrus.  That's where I especially think there needs to be strong harmony.  While they are very different characters they have an awful lot in common.

But that is a good point Overlord, these kind of thoughts would be happening at different times ordinarily... hmm... well maybe there can be a particular theme used for remembering the loss of Cyrus or Schala (or other characters as needed) that reaches a climax and a Duet when Frog and Magus confront each other at the North cape, there doesn't have to be a fight there it might just be an argument on the verge of duel after Magus reveals his past, but I'd totally be behind an epic confrontation wherein Frog is the victor and then he hesitatingly spares Magus' life.

I make no comment on the Frog/Magus love/crush duet... Besides that one...  :D

This would be like, something that would occur after Frog and co. storm Magus's castle and get sent away, you know? hahaha =D so much awesome could come of it..

I say the North Cape, cause then Magus Lamenting for his loss and inability to change things would make sense in context (He was really unable to) and Frog is singing about how he can now avenge Cyrus, but then when he has his chance he chooses not to.

--
I was wondering, will would we end it one

A sweet note-> The wedding or parade

A bitter note-> The Fall of Guardia

or a mind screw-> *spoiler for DS...though at this point is anyone not aware of the ending.
I say go for the wedding and end it on a happy note (having the other two would open up for a CC one in the future, but if that ever came to be then that scene could just be added into that play.)
